noticed this in today's NYT: . . . Japan, which is scheduled to play the United States in Seattle on March 29, has added a match against Uruguay on March 26 in San Jose, Calif. . . . confirmed on FIFA website probably some better info online somewhere but I'm too lazy to look for it yet. Being discussed here. No times set for the match according to reports. March 26th is a Wednesday. Wonder if there's a chance for a double-header with the Quakes? Maybe even a Champion's Cup match though that's probably unlikely...
Man...that bites! I thought they were talking about the USMNT playing Costa Rica here on Memorial Day weekend. Bummer. I don't know that I'd sneak out of the annual camping trip in the Santa Cruz Mountains for this.
Sorry about the venom, Mr. Bandwagon...didn't mean to come off as though "shooting the messenger." Just disappointed. Heard USA...got Japan.
According to the FIFA calendar, it's Bolivia/USA on Memorial Day but given the talk about the opponent (either them or Costa Rica) and no word on the location it's still speculative on the Memorial Day game. Just a take.
Oooooooooo! I hope that turns out to be the case, Nap! We'll have to watch closely. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Heck, if I stay at the campground I'll just sit around drinking beer anyway. (...and that would differ from the game....?????)
***Quoting scene from "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" Butch - "The next time I say 'let's go to Bolivia,' let's go to Bolivia!!" Sundance - (laughing) "You just keep thinkin' Butch. That's what your good at."
Why does USSF schedule US men's soccer exihibition games in the San Francisco Bay Area? Only 6,000 people will show up for it.
says here that tentative dates for the Champions' Cup round-o-sixteen matches will be March 12 and March 26. Definitely a chance of a double-header at Spartan if the Earthquakes want it. I wonder who is promoting the international match. If it isn't AEG I suppose there's not much of a chance of seeing both games on the same bill
Awww, this kind of sucks because I'm going to be out of town and it would be intersting to see international soccer live. TRANSFORM MARI
WTF are you talking about? Last time the USMNT played here was in Oakland against China, and as I recall, there was a 'disappointing' 20k that showed up. Therefore, please shut your pie hole until you've got your facts straight and crawl back under your rock.
Please guy. If you believe 20,000 were at the game then I have some magic beans to sell you. The official number was 8,903 people. Here is a link. http://www.soccertimes.com/usteams/2001/games/jan27.htm
Yeah your right. But I still stand by my statements that the USMNT should never play their exihibition games in the SF Bay Area, because the crowd turnout is very small.
OK, folks, settle down. The personal attacks and other posts which didn't add to the discussion have been removed.
