A loan would be really good after the year! Would be nice for him to start getting some professional minutes next season.

I wonder if next season is his time to earn a first team cap.

Im ok wasting a spot on WC rosters on very young sensations, for the time they will get in practice for over 1 month with the WC team. Like when Brazil tool Ronaldo to the 1994 WC at age 17, don't think he played but I think that can give a lot to a young sensation. Usually coaches don't play the full 20 non goalie players throughout the tourney. There isn't one every WC for sure. Last time for Mexico was when I was hoping LaVolpe would have taken Gio to 2006 WC, at least for Mexico

I believe they're going to vote on adjusting the rosters during the draw. I want to say I saw a note stating they would have 26 with only 20 dressing or something along the lines. If the changes are successful and we show up with 4 keepers and dead weight that would be criminal.

Just did a little further research and the youngest to get called up in this century has been Guardado at 19 for 2006, annnnd we all know how that ended. Homie came in and had a hell of a game against los Che's.

After Guardado it's Machin in Russia at 20 and then Gio and Vela at 21 in 2010.

Also I heard they already approved the 5 subs per game so increasing the roster makes sense to give them more options I guess, I don’t like the 5 subs tho btw
And I much rather take young inexperienced marcelo than dudes like piojo Alvarado for example

Yes but all those guys were playing in first division leagues. Just stating facts, not saying reserve teams in EPL are worse that Mexico league, just saying those you listed were playing in first division futbol

Right and kinda my point in agreeing with what you were saying. If the youngest guys we have called up, never mind played in a World Cup, have had to be world beaters, that speaks poorly on Mexico. What's funny is that all of the youngest players we've taken have all played in their respective cups. Now more than ever it's a young man's game.

I hate the term "waste" with young talent as they stand to gain much more than when we historically waste one on an older player.
Emperador, Maybe Cuauh in 10 (although watching him score a penalty will forever be ingrained in my memories), Rafa (which could be debatable for 2).

If it's between Marcelo and someone else who is arguably average and might not even see the field anyway, I don't think first team minutes should even matter. He has much more upside than a Pizarro or Alvarado option with the expanded squad.
