Ivan, you've picked the wrong day to stop sniffing glue. One guy will, 'Celo. One guy will. Still no Rocky in our Balboa.
Hyperbole (pronounced: high-pur-bow-lee) is a figure of speech where something is grossly exaggerated for effect. For example, when someone sees a large amount of something and says "there was a million of them!" he is engaging in hyperbole. There really weren't a million nor did he believe there was, but he was simply emphasizing that it was a lot. More examples: "I almost died" (no you didn't) "Arsenal killed PSG" (all members of PSG lived) "It hit me like a ton of bricks" (if it had actually hit you with that much force, you would no longer be living) It has also more recently been used (as it was above) in a critical fashion to describe a statement that has a grain of truth in it, but has been clearly overstated. "Smith was engaging in a bit of hyperbole there." "While Jones may have a minor point, the importance he placed on it was pure hyperbole." This message and many others brought to you by a liberal arts education.
Will they retire Marcelo's jersey number at the home opener? I don't remember what number he wore in those precious 5 minutes.
I'm sure the fans are all for "retiring" the # he wore for 5 minutes in our last game. Poetic justice. was his number 30-60? Cuz I wish that was retired.
