Anything should be an improvement after last week. This is our second and final meeting this regular season against the Wiz. Thx, Jay!
"I hope he's better than the ass-clown from last week." Isn't it sad that it appears that this is the MLS-referee mantra?
A little harsh, don't you think. What's to hate about this guy really? You can't just make a statement like that and just leave it open, clearly he's done something to personally offend you or you have some sick vendetta against all officials.
Thanks for the neg rep for something I've written on almost every Ref Thread I've started. He might be a good ref and all, doesn't mean I have to like him. Thx, Jay!
Wait, I thought we were supposed to dislike with extreme prejudice any and all officials that dare to referee an MLS game? Was there a new memo saying this was not the case? What if one has a pathological hatred for all people with the name Yonan? Is that ok?
Geez, I'd give you another for caring that much if it let me. Of course you don't have to like him, but as I said, hate? He's not Kevin Terry here (who btw did a bang up job today in the Metros/Quakes game ) That is absolutely acceptable, at least you'd have a resason.
I thought the referee had absolutely no effect on the outcome of the game, which is exactly how it should be.
Agreed. He called a very fair game. Very loose, let a lot of fouls go, but did so evenly. I perhaps thought there should have been a couple more cards on each side, and a possible PK, but not I'm not upset as this was the flow of the game.
Really? Which play could that possibly have been? On TV, not one of either teams' dives in the box looked remotely close...
Probably when Esky got shoulder charged into the boards. At first I thought it was a penalty but on replay it looked like a clean challenge. Overall, I thought the ref had the best match of any DC game I've seen this year.
If I can post venom when I am angry with how the referee missed so many calls, was inconsistent, etc., then I feel obligated to post that I thought Marcel Yonan did his job today. He was even-handed, let the lads play, and didn't seem to miss any calls. There was one call I questioned made by Nathan Clement, the Senior Assistant ref, but overall, this was a solid game by the referee and his crew.
My guess is that he's referring to the sequence in the second half when Taylor got in behind Namoff, but then Petke came from behind him, and made the tackle with some contact. On the replay it looked as if Petke knocked the ball away then the two got tangled up as Petke followed through and Taylor continued his shooting motion. A penalty would have been a little harsh. But then again I'm a DC fan, so I'm biased.
