I think the personality of a player counts a lot to the status you give him or her, and even though he had great talent when he was younger, I never will classify him better than Pele who to me still signifies what a futbol player should strive to become.
Maradona is notorious for coke, women and money thrown around. Read up on Pele's exploits in both Brasil and New York. He was definitely guilty of all of the above.
