I held a sliver of hope that they might retain Crew Stadium somewhere in the name - but congrats to the Crew and Mapfre!
Mapfre is local? had no idea. Color me not impressed with the selection but overjoyed that it is done! The QA should be good... *edit: I fall in love with Ignelzi every time she bats her eyes.
Bahhh, I was thinking the same damn thing. I know their logo is red, gray, and white but really... Couldn't have gotten a bit more creative with the color scheme or something? Oh well, it's money...
What was the deal for Barbasol? Since this is bigger than that one it would give us a baseline I guess.
Yawn. I'd rather it remain Crew Stadium than be named after some company I have never heard of until last fall. And yes, I know the money situation is much better, but it will always be "Crew Stadium" to me.
Likewise. Apparently, this "local" company also outsourced jobs overseas to India or some such. But...if they want to give us all of the monies, it'll always be CCS or Hunt Park to us. But hey...this is the same team that signed a deal with Heartland Bank.
I couldn't care less about the name as long as it turns into improved performance on the field; I don't care if it isn't well known or it is hard to pronounce it isn't embarrassing. I do care somewhat about the red for two reasons one the biggest sports brand in town is red; two because so much of the league including our biggest rivals are red.
Who cares. Avaya is red too. Does Huntington change their colors at the ballpark downtown? They are not going to change their branding to match a soccer club. And neither should a soccer club ever change their colors to match a sponsor. This is a big deal and for anyone to have any compalints is utterly ridiculous. We've clamoured for years about not having a jersey sponsor, we get one and everyone complains who it is or how the logo looks on the jersey. We get stadium naming rights deal and bam the whiners come out of their turtle shells. Let's just celebrate this good news!!! Now if the $$ doesn't get reinvested inthe club, then we can all start the march on the FO with pitchforks and torches. I'm persnally more excited to see where the money is spent. DP, New training facility, USL team, Stadium upgrades????
