At Crew games you were supposed to pay an upgrade at the box office, get a new ticket printed, and then go in. However, in true Crew fashion, the people at the box office had no clue what the upgrade amount was so, in one season, I know of people paying $0, $1, $2, $5, $6, and maybe $8.

The Indians just introduced some kids tickets for $10.

It shouldn't be that hard. Look at the ticket price list. Subtract the kids ticket price from the adult ticket price. That is the upgrade fee.

Seriously. It is not rocket surgery.

The Crew has had several "4 beers and 4 tickets" or their pre-game "Ultimate Tailgate" or other things such as that.

I think this year they're doing discounted imported beers (in addition to dollar nights) on some games, including the home opener.

Yet the Clippers (a Triple-A team) somehow manage to figure it out.

Not too crazy about the idea myself. I like to sit while watching a game unless I'm in a supporters section at a soccer match.

Understandable. My dad was mad he had to stand the whole Mexico game.

But it's always nice to offer different options to different targets. It's why I don't necessarily disagree with youth pricing- something for under 12 in a season ticket form or if you buy tickets in packages.

A lot smaller stadium.... And minor league. Also not available in all sections. But the Clippers are always trying to get the family market. Not sure most major leagues are going after that as hard. Not saying that it's not possible. But I can see why they aren't going there. "Can" and "want to" are sometimes two different things. I don't have anything against youth pricing, though. But I could not get a partial refund on my season tickets when I took a kid to the game, which was fairly often, so I kinda got used to it. But another method to get families is to sell a "family pack". That's what the Jackets do and that's what the Crew has been doing. That's "youth pricing" in a way.

Good point. I didn't think of it that way. Thanks for providing a perspective that I missed. Repped!

Maybe the interns and other volunteers the Crew hires to work in its box office on game days were told there'd be no math during their interviews.

I know MLSinCleveland responded, but I thought his original reply was more "the Clippers interns can add and subtract" and not "the Clippers can do youth pricing."

Interns are interns. Some are pretty good--some aren't.

It was both actually. I was referring to their ability to handle youth pricing and upgrades.

In their case, it probably helps that

    a) they have a flat difference between adult and youth tickets for the price categories that have youth pricing ($3).

    b) I don't think they use interns at the ticket windows (I see many of the same people in the ticket office year after year).
