Just had a bacon sandwich the other night. After all the HP Sauce talk, I bought a bottle and added some... and meh. I'll forgo it next time. I didn't enjoy it all that much and thought it brought down the quality of the sandwich
Depends entirely on the bacon and bread used. http://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/wordofmouth/2013/aug/27/how-to-eat-bacon-sandwich
IMHO, HP can overwhelm a good sandwich or steak, so it is better on chips than on a sandwich. Yes, I said 'chips,' not 'french fries,' because 'french fries' are thin, greasy, strips of potatoes you can get at McDonald's, whereas 'chips' are large chipped-off chunks of potatoes you get at an establishment that knows how to pour a Guinness.
A nation that classifies Hersheys as "chocolate" would not get HP sauce. It's ok though - there's nothing wrong with that I suppose. We are all different.
There should be multiple reps allowed for statements like this! Although, If I'm going the stout direction, I'm getting Nitro Milk Stout from Left Hand.
Nitro Milk Stout is one of my favorites, and Murphy's is good, but sometimes I just feel like a Guinness (or six).
According to the internets, HP started in England, but was bought by Heinz and is now made in the Netherlands. Worcestershire (absolutely NOT pronounced phonetically) was also apparently bought by HP at once time. I believe...Lea & Perrins is the original. Depending on who you talk to, they're the only "true" type. All others are essentially knockoffs. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worcestershire_sauce http://www.leaperrins.com/products/the-original-worcestershire-sauce.aspx
No, different types of sauces. HP is tomato/vinegar/dates. Sort of an all purpose sauce (like the Euro equivalent of our Heinz 57) Worcestershire sauce is a sauce made with anchovies and vinegar. Worcestershire sauce is meant more of a steak sauce, but I can put it on absolutely anything. Love that stuff. When I was a kid I would drown everything I ate with it.
If you're asking if they taste the same no; HP is closer to something between Montgomery Inn and A1. Feel free to take me to task Graham I know this is heresy.
