In today's SJ Mercury (sorry - no link), there was a short note that Manny had announced his retirement. He had been released from the Crew about a month ago.

To me, Manny deserves to be in the Quakes Hall of Fame. He brought class, grit, intelligence, and attitude to the team. Manny was one of the players who changes this franchise from losers to a winner.

I will always remember his slashing runs and his awesome season in 2001. One of the top goals in Quakes history was his goal off a Donovan flick over the defense.

Thanks Manny and good luck! Hope you stay involved in the game...
