    Hello,

So finally, after years of saying "this is the year I am going", I am getting serious. I found great airfare, will be staying with some good friends living in LDN (originally from Newcastle, big Toon supporter), and will have saved enough money for all expenses. I am entering law school and realize that my life is shorlty entering "responsibility phase", so I NEED to do this soon. I would be going from Jan 2 to Jan 10, and we play Citeh on Jan 4. I am willing to do almost anything to watch the team I grew up supporting live. I contacted Arsenal directly and they recommended a red membership. I contacted Arsenal America (Josh I think), and he recommended an AA membership.

The entire trip pretty much rides on if I can have AT LEAST a good chance at tickets. Should I purchase the AA membership? I thought I saw somewhere that the purchasing period ends in Feb and starts back up in July or August. This worries me because I do not want to be left in the dark when I could be signing up for Man City tickets.

Please, I beg of you guys, if you have any insight/pull, I will do almost anything legal, sane, and responsible to get 2 tickets to the match. Whatever the best avenue is will be the one I take.

    Thanks so much,

    Michael

Do both. An AA membership is $20 and a red membership is about $40 for the lite version. And the red membership directly supports the club. While Man City is a bigger match than it used to be, either of those methods (combined with following and keeping up with how to go about getting the tickets once they're on sale) should be able to secure you one ticket.

Things to keep in mind 1) I think you're limited to one ticket per membership under either method 2) red member tickets go on sale about 1 month before the fixture 3) if it's a league match, members can also use the ticketexchange to get tickets to sold out matches from season ticket holders and other members selling their tickets (at face value) for matches they can't make

    Good luck.

Yeah, just to add to Frank's advice.... if you're wanting to get two tickets, have your friend, girlfriend, whoever it is going to the match with you join AA as well. Even if they're not as die-hard as you, just tell them to think of it as contributing to a good cause....because it is.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will definitely register for AA ASAP. Any idea on an exact date for registration and ticket requests? I will stay up, travel, max out my credit card, take out loans, WHATEVER IT TAKES (within sane reason, $400 for a match ticket is a big no-no). Thanks.

No harm in signing up for a red membership now, either. It will take a few weeks to get your card (which is what the ticket is allocated to if you go that route and required to gain entry to the ground), and I think Arsenal recommend you have your card in hand before you order your match ticket.
