Yep - Gibson is in if Fletcher can't go, maybe O'Shea for one of the twins to have some height for set pieces.

Great game for him to start. Already almost through, and Schalke posed almost no threat in the first leg. This is a perfect game for him to get into shape.

Good luck to SAF and Manchester United they have a gruesome last few weeks. Really if they pull off an UEFA championship and a league championship all credit goes to the manager.

That has to be our slowest possible lineup. Are you planning to bore Schalke to death? ;) :D

Fergie said he plans to rest some key players but also mentioned that the backline is likely to remain the same starters.

I really would prefer to see the Da Silvas on either side though and give Rio a rest

String of random facts for you all,

    UEFA milestones
    • United have scored 299 goals in the UEFA Champions League, group stage to final.
    • Ryan Giggs became the oldest scorer in the competition with his first-leg goal against Schalke. Aged 37 years and
148 days, he surpassed the record of Filippo Inzaghi, who was 37 years and 86 days when he registered for AC Milan
against Real Madrid CF on Matchday 4.
    • Giggs became United's oldest UEFA Champions League outfield player in the quarter-final first leg against Chelsea
FC. He surpassed Laurent Blanc, who was 37 years and 119 days when he played against RC Deportivo La Coruña
    in March 2003.

Rooney didn't train today due to a tight hamstring, according to Fergie. Sounds like he'll be rested tomorrow. He also said Fletcher will definitely play a part.

    Anyone but Giggs.

Keep him back for Chelsea, please.

I with Carrick and Giggs out, I guess Ando has to show up for this one. Fletch from the start could be risky, as he's not had game action for awhile. Schalke will come out gunning, as they have nothing to lose. Fletch will have to be able to keep up.

    That banner is beautiful.

I hope Owen goes off, he's been a model pro for us regardless of his injuries and his time with the club is wrapping up.

i think Rio is rested and Smalling starts. other than that good lineup Vince.

we need the momentum of a good home win going into Armageddon Sunday.
