Kyle Walker: "The hardest part of football is putting the ball in the net. Real Madrid defended well. We were probably better, but you have to take hats off to Real Madrid. Their plan worked. You do these drills in training; it’s very hard to score against a low block. We’re… pic.twitter.com/y1yEHivFfB— Madrid Universal (@MadridUniversal) April 18, 2024
We have been dealing with low blocks in La Liga since 2013 pretty much. Many teams started emulating Simeone and Bordolas style in Spain. Yet we never complain when we fail to break down such teams. PL on the other hand shifted to expansive syle compared to Mou, Benitez, Allardice, Moyes, Roy Hodgson days due to the influence of Pep, Klopp, Poch at Spurs etc.
Glad Jules who was at the ground talked about Belligham's involvement in the first goal. RM TV stream showed from ground level camera and it was incredeble how he controlled that hoofball from Carva and then skipped past City player who quickly closed him down. It was a game where we struggled to break City's line due to intense press after first 25 mins so that kind of quality from Belligham from a prayer ball was crucial for 1-0 lead early on. And he understood what kind of game this will be and ran for 15 kms without the ball pretty much all game. Top personality.
We are celebrating because we would rather face Real Madrid than your oil money club. Bayern vs Real Madrid is football heritage. https://t.co/0wjoQtBmhC— Bayern & Football (@MunichFanpage) April 18, 2024
I mentioned this earlier, it's a legitimate approach the game just like counter attacking like we used to against Pep's barca was a way to deal with a team that really emphasizes possession. We struggle against low blocks and I'd argue that La Liga with the various approaches to game provides very good practice for competing in CL.
I'm sure it's a bit of both, they probably think we're the easier opponent and they don't respect City because they're an oil club with no tradition. But I liked this tweet: I like how they nonchalantly refer to Etihad as a library.
Casemiro: "Madrid's DNA is to win" The DNA of Real Madrid "It's difficult to explain it. It's a team that transforms in the Champions League. It has that star point: Haaland's ball that hits the crossbar and goes out... this team in the Champions League is something incredible. The DNA is winning. Yes You only win the League, why haven't you won the Champions League? It's like that. The demand doesn't exhaust you, you always have to push. That's what it's like to play for Madrid, that pressure every day." City-Real Madrid "I suffered as a Madrid fan. Of course Madrid passed but I suffered for Madrid. I already knew, City has very good players and an incredible coach, who knows what he is playing. Madrid defended, defended and defended. I am very happy for my former colleagues. https://www.marca.com/futbol/real-madrid/2024/04/19/6621a0aae2704e71868b45e2.html
Is that Aguero's son with RM shirt? Aguero reaction yesterday with his son who is a Real Madrid supporter 😄😁pic.twitter.com/3lJ17SRbLb— Real Madrid Info ³⁶ (@RMadridInfo) April 18, 2024
Basically makes sense. Fede is a dude who likes to strike the ball clean and hard; easy to see why he didn’t think he’d be in the best position to convert.
This is what kids do, my daughter has a barca jersey but I can accept it because at least it's Messi's jersey and love him or hate him he's one the best to ever play
Real Madrid vs City, 210 minutes of football:- City led for 18 minutes.- It was a draw for 76 minutes.- Real Madrid led for 116 minutes."Luck" pic.twitter.com/mtAp4wsOCa— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) April 18, 2024
Daughters are tough man he’s not winning what’s worst, I don’t know about him, but if one of my daughters was a Barca fan, I would have to hold my joy and shit talking when we beat them to not piss them off and get them in a mood. But if they won? I’d be hearing it all day Meanwhile look at Aguero’s son, it was the opposite, he was celebrating quietly not to piss off his dad

Teenage years are rough but honestly best thing you can do is marriage good women and have a kid or 2. There isn't anything that has brought me more joy in life than that. My daughter will say to me she's a barca fan but I over hear her saying how good Madrid is especially with Bellingham, she's going to end up supporting the right club.
