In a move unheard of in English Soccer, the Manchester City team suspended Argentine Carlos Tévez for 2 weeks and fined him with more than a million Euros (approx $1.5 million) . The large record setting fine, which represents a month’s salary for Tevez, was for disobeying an order from coach Roberto Mancini. During the Champions League game between Manchester City and the Bayern Münich last month, Mancini ordered Tévez to warm up and get ready to jump in the game, as the team was losing 2-0. Tévez refused. http://www.hispanicallyspeakingnews.com/notitas-de-noticias/details/manchester-city-fines-carlos-tevez-a-million-euros-for-refusing-to-play/11233/
Tevez is denying that he refused to play and that he only refused to warm up. The PFA are backing Tevez and say that the maximum fine should be the two weeks wages that he has already been fined. http://www.bigpondsport.com/union-backs-tevez-in-city-dispute/tabid/91/newsid/79446/default.aspx
Good, it's about time they came down hard on these spoilt footballers. No one can have sympathy for someone who gets paid vast amounts of money then refuses to play. They should of stopped his wages until he made a public apology.
Its sad to hear that he finally lost touch with the reality... The question is - if he is able to ever come back...
