Rumor has it that Spanish (Catalan) coach Eva Olid will take over at Manchester United following Mark Skinner's resignation this week. Olid led the Scottish club Hearts to the league title in 2025/26 season.
From what I've been reading, saying Skinner resigned really doesn't seem like it tells the whole picture. The Man U supporters were basically talking like the club is melting down.
Man U fans are exaggerating a bit; they’re unhappy because the club doesn’t allocate as much funding to women’s football as Arsenal, Chelsea or even Man City. As for Skinner, they weren’t happy with his results either, yet when you consider the budget he had at his disposal compared to the competition, he actually achieved results that exceeded expectations.
I was being dramatic, but yeah. Basically, they all said Skinner was a moderate manager and took Man U as far as possible with the budget, but it says how little interested in the women's team they have if somebody like Skinner resigns.
Paris SG and Manchester United are using the same blueprint, no spending and emphasis on youth: from the Athletic "The director of football operations stood before first-team players and staff and delivered the club’s plan for the upcoming season: United would be following a “sustainable long-term” investment model. There would be a return to the DNA of bringing through academy kids, placing trust in youth and playing “exciting” football." PSG: "Since then, Paris Saint-Germain has pursued its ambition to build a model of sustainable performance based on excellence in support, development and trust placed in young players" Both teams do not want to invest to compete basically, same can be said of Liverpool as well.
