"Then we are out of the Champions League and that gives us a big blow. So when you don't assess December, 2015 was a very good year -- but you cannot do that because a year has 12 months." - LvG

So minus December, 2015 was good, lets try to make 2016 better.

It's January and our leading scorer has 4 goals.

    Let that sink in.

I have been screaming about selling Rooney for more than 4 years now, people wanted him, here it is you have him leading our team and not scoring goals.

For this game I'd go with the same lineup except I'd like to have Pereira involved it is his birthday, I'd like Depay given some time. When Depay lost his confidence it showed, he needs to get it back.

    De Gea

    Darmian
    Smalling
    Blind
    Jackson

    Schneiderlin
    Herrera

    Martial
    Pereira/Mata
    Depay

    Rooney

Subs: Schweini, Romero, Carrick, Young, Jones, Mata/Pereira, Fellaini.

I like Darmian at right back, and Jackson at left back, they both have speed to get up the pitch and come back down and are good on the ball. I started Blind over Jones because of the opposition letting us have the ball so we will have possession and we need to use Blind in there, let's hope he won't make a mistake.

I wanted to try Herrera in the partnership with Schneiderlin against a struggling opposition at home hoping for him to play a bit quicker than Schweini.

I liked Martial on the left and I wanted Depay to start on the right because he has been struggling on the left and when the ball is played in from Martial he can come in the middle, or have Rooney drop and he takes his place.

Pereira deserves a chance and it is a good game to give it to him, he has looked sharp when he has come on, he provides penetrating passes and quicker release than others, it is his 20th birthday after all.

If we carry the same attitude as the Chelsea game along with a bit of quality we could run out 3-0. I am sure the players are pumped with it being a new year and starting from a blank page.

We saw some progress in the last game vs Chelsea playing a 4-3-3 and I'd like to continue. The team I'd like to see is as followed:

    DDG
    Darmian Smalling Blind BoJack
    Herrera Schneiderlin Schweinsteiger
    Mata Rooney Martial

Subs: Romero, Jones, Fellaini, Depay, AY, Keane, Pereira

Why do you guys have Rooney in your team lineups? What exactly has he done recently to deserve a spot in the team? If anything, we need to put Martial in his proper position.

    DDG
    Young Smalling Blind Darmian
    Herrera Schneiderlin Carrick
    Perreira Martial Memphis

Just the left back change. I'd like Mata rested.

He doesn't deserve a spot, he is the captain, he is loved by the fans, he will play. Granted, he did have a good game against Chelsea, reminiscing of the old Rooney. I was actually surprised by his first touch in that game with his back to goal and connecting with his teammates quickly.

    Ideally have Depay up top.

I'm going by what I think we will see, not by how I'd want the lineup to be. Rooney and Mata would both be benched if it was up to me as well and I'd play Depay thru the middle supported by Martial on the left. Depay is useless outwide.

Simply put, there is just no excuses for Van Gaal and United. Nothing short of a victory will do if we're to have any aspirations to the top 4. Not to mention as well the fact that Swansea have struggled of late. The guys have to keep on starting as fast and as aggressive as they have in recent games and hope that they can score this time as it will ease their nerves the rest of the way. But it's victory or bust.

I am sure before you were a poster it was me Syed I believe that were the only one against Rooney at the time, with Amdrag thinking about Wayne before he sleeps every night.

Rooney needs either to be accommodated to suit his set of skills in a direct formation of a 4-4-2 which jeopardized all of our players at the time having the likes of Kagawa, Berbatov, Nani, Anderson, and a few others always playing a role to suit Rooney.

and if Rooney was not the center of our formation, we would win the league because of a leader like RVP, Ronnie and Rooney has to sit on the left wing or play a role for us to win.

He was never a leader for the team in giving the fans championships and will never be.

Yup from back in 2009 when he proved he was not good enough to play CF/10 and needed to be played LWF in a team of quality (that won CL, two consecutive CL finals).

And now he isnt good enough for a team that struggles to finish top 6, how standards have dropped.

Before I was a poster? I've been here for roughly 10 years (around 6 under this name).

And like others have already chimed in and said, you're hardly the only one who's wanted Rooney out since before SAF left.

With that said, Rooney is definitely a problem, but the issue with our offense runs much deeper.
