Friedel as starter, Timmy backing him up. Sounds good to me!

Wasn't Paul R still under contract with MU? His move was a loan, right?

I meant the Californian-turned British keeper.... I forgot his surname.

    rachubka.

ON my CM game, he's stilll with Man U, and is also one of the best goalkeepers in the world.

He als o playes with the US team.

HOwever, sadly, this is not the case in real life.

I'm pretty sure his move to charlton was permanent.

Didnt he play against bayern once?

I thought he did play against Bayern Munich, but not sure. I guess no 3 American keepers at MU.

Rachubka is the backup keeper at Charlton Athletic

I love the reference to CM. This is probably where I get most of my latest transfer news (kidding). I just can't tell you how many hours and hours I've spent......

I've heard tell that Rachubka played for an English Youth side, so he's not even eligible to play for the US, is this so?

Back to Friedel, I distinctly recall reading somewhere that Graham Souness said he is not for sale, period.

Everyone/everything has a price. Saying he's off limits is just their way of saying "He'll cost more than you'll probably want to pay." If ManU makes an unprecedented offer, Blackburn can't afford to turn it down.

That said, I don't see it happening.

Not to mention that we should also consider the source of the quote: The Sun.

The only way that could happen is if Beckham is sold off for some ungodly sum (latest rumor is 60 million pounds to Barca). If he is sold for that much, SAF could easily get Brad.

Charlton was in the Priemiership. Since the English FA dosent allow loaning between Priemiership clubs, it can be confirmed that his move is pernament.

He did play for England. However, no one is sure if it was an offical game or not.

What IS your avatar? It looks like a stream of urine hitting a dancing turd. It sort of bothers me.

Now, now, complaints agains The Sun may be fair, but they do provide page 3, and this should not be overlooked.

Disturbing yes, but not as bad as the dancing fat guy he used to have.

    Back to the topic:
Since everyone with an opinion seems to think that Howard to ManUre is a done deal, doesn't that effect how much they'd be willing to pay for Friedel? That is, does it change the odds of them meeting Blackburn's definition of 'silly money'?

Don't know if this are news for you, but the DSF ticker said that Arsenal doesn't want to go on with Seaman. They mentioned a selection of three keepers, who will get the new no.1 job; one of them was Friedel.

Assuming the money is there at Blackburn, and it looks to be, BF will be tough to pull away. Not only was he the reason they qualified for europe, but I don't know that he's pining for a new manager. GS has been the one true fan he's had among EPL, fighting to keep him when no one else saw the value, and BF has more than a few gushy quotes about the guy to back up this statement.

All this who-gets-which-keeper stuff depends first on who signs Rustu Recber, who's available on a free transfer. Nobody's going to drop $10 mil on Friedel if nearly-as-good Recber is available free.

This is a great point. GS has been a BF believer for a long time. He's not a new convert.

No way does Blackburn need this money. While they realise that they can't hold onto Dunn, they're fighting to get top dollar for the guy. Assuming that they'll get 6-10 million pounds (they've rejected 5.5 million pound offers already), I see them having some cash to strengthen their squad in other ways.

Blackburn won't be in the UEFA Cup for very long if they sell Friedel...unless maybe they offset losing him by picking up Recber. Oh, and they might want to consider kepping Duff, too.

BF fan, but i gotta agree with this. In fact, the commentary last summer was that Recber and not BF was the keeper to watch for the year. People really seem to have cooled on him, though. BF had a great season, so his stock rose.
but did recber tank in Turkey? Totally? Tragically?

How about the Brazilian keeper Marcos (sp?). I thought he was also being courted by big teams in England.
