Did we do match threads for the league cup last year? Don't remember, seeing as how no one really cares about it (except the 'Pool, and their shining plastic treble).

Anyways, Carroll will replace Howard (a sure sign of our lack of confidence in Timmy  ), and Dj2 and Forlan look to get a start. We could also see Kieran Richardson, Danny Pugh, Paul Tierney and Chris Eagles on the pitch at Elland Road.

Take it FWIW. I guess SAF will be using it to display the youth, while the rest of the team sits and watches while pondering how to approach this weekend's match against surprising Portsmouth.

It looks like Sir Alex isn't taking this game seriously. I have been hearing great things about Tierney and Eagles so I am intersted to see them play.

Would love to see Ronaldo, Fletcher, Richardson, etc., get lots of playing time in the League Cup, and hopefully boost their confidence a bit.

When you think about it, it's actually not that weak a side, given that many of these players have gotten semi-regular first team action this year such as Forlan, Fletcher, DJ2, Ronaldo, even Pugh, Richardson and Bellion played a lot on the preseason trip.

It's definitely not the full on "we don't care" attitude that resulted in the 4-0 hammering at Arsenal a couple seasons ago.

Does anyone know if this game will be televised at all today? If not, I can always rely on MU.tv and their radio stream, but I'd much rather watch the game.

I wonder what kind of a side Leeds will field today...you have to think they will field a strong one, since they need all the victories they can get their hands on...

    Leeds squad for tonight:

Robinson, Kelly, Matteo, Harte, Radebe, Duberry, Roque Junior, Camara, Viduka, Olembe, Sakho, Wilcox, Smith, Johnson, Batty, Lennon, Domi, Chapuis, Bridges, Milner, Barmby, Carson.

Fergie on team tonight: "Nicky Butt, Eric Djemba-Djemba, David Bellion and Diego Forlan will all play. It will be a mix of that and the first team squad, which is exactly the way we have always approached it. Roy Carroll will also play."

And Fergie on Ronaldo: "It is easy to forget he is still only 18, and a lot has been happening in the boy's life since he came here. He made that great debut for us, and was then picked for the full Portugal side, so he needs a break"

VERY cool & collected goal from Bellion, slid it in between Robinsons legs after Harte and/or Camara played him onside. Leeds dominated the first half, but ManU have shown urgency in the 2nd and have been on top for the last half hour

And that's all she wrote. 1-1 tie. Good to see Bellion get on the scoresheet, and disappointed to see Forlan missing his chances again. Looks like he'll never develop into the player we thought he might be.

Weird... Soccernet lists it as a Final. Though it does say Extra time being played. Kinda weird.

Forlan almost tapped in the go ahead goal.... but just can't make it there....

Then Forlan heads the ball into the net.... offside flag is up

    We're pressing...

Will Forlan ever stop being offside? He might as well be playing footsie with Paul Robinson

Still I like Forlan, he's a hardworking player, a great personality, and the only South American footballer to ever learn English - except Juninho! (I can understand players that just came like Crespo or Kleberson, but the likes of Veron who have been here for years and still not learned the language frustrates me greatly, and I think it speaks volumes of their personality)

Small think I never got... what does "IIRC" stand for
