A SUICIDE bomb plot to kill thousands of soccer fans at Saturday’s Manchester United-Liverpool match was dramatically foiled yesterday. Armed cops seized ten terror suspects in dawn raids. Intelligence chiefs believe al-Qaeda fanatics planned to blow themselves up amid 67,000 unsuspecting supporters. A source said: “The target was Old Trafford.” The Islamic fanatics planned to sit all around the ground to cause maximum carnage. They had already bought the tickets for various positions in the stadium, cops revealed last night. But armed cops foiled the horrific plot - which could have killed thousands watching Manchester United’s home game against Liverpool on Saturday - in a series of dawn raids yesterday..... http://www.thesun.co.uk/article/0,,2-2004180985,00.html
Try this actual quote from Greater Manchester police's assistant chief constable, Dave Whatton: "I am aware there is extensive speculation about possible targets," he added. "As with any counter-terrorist operation, we will not confirm or deny any targets." http://www.guardian.co.uk/terrorism/story/0,12780,1195762,00.html Way to get excited there fella. But if you read The Sun, what can you expect?
If The National Enquirer is a rag with about as much actual news in it as your average children's comic then yes.
To be fair, the first story I saw on this was from the Daily Mirror, but they sourced Reuters which I subsequently saw on the Reuters wire as well, so it's not a completely rubbish story. Sensationalistic and blown out of proportion.... maybe so. If true, tagetting the clubs who have been through Munich and Hillsborough though...
I think you'll find that many people would disagree with you about the Sun. Why would they make this one up? Sell papers? (Just a guess.)
Quality signature material here. Too bad I haven't shelled out for the ability to have signatures. Still, for this one case... --------------------------------------------------------------- The Sun is a very credible newspaper. Why would they make this one up? Bigsoccer poster thruthandlife retires the trophy upon winning Bigsoccer's Gullibility Award with this statement.
Things I learned on BigSoccer lately: Veron is the worst attacking midfielder in the world, Joe Cole has no flair, and The Sun is a very credible newspaper. Thank you, nurspec and friends.

(sorry to disrupt the thread) fao: GABBAGE - just noticed your profile - you dont watch any games at the dark horse in philly do you? nick.
Not lately, no. With the way Liverpool have been playing this season, no one wants to watch them -- so only the occasional 7:30AM game and matches against the big three have been shown. But I suppose you knew that.
