Looks like Man U is looking at Howard, maybe as a long term replacement for Barthez. I guess this would be a good move since Howard looks like the next great US keeper and he will be cheaper now than in 3 or 4 year. Also, I believe Howard can a European passport (his mother is HUngarian or something like that).

I don't watch the MetroStars games that much so hopefully someone that know them can answer this -

Is Howard better than Ricardo? I mean - SAF wouldn't expect Tim to step in first team so he must want a 3rd keep or 2nd keep... I just don't know enough about Tim Howard to know if he would qualify as 2nd or 3rd.

He'd come in as 3rd choice as I'm sure Ricardo is on the way out. Roy Carroll is number 2 at United, and being as he's about as young as Howard, I think they would both be battling to fill Barthez' boots after next season... if this happens.

I think there has been way too much talk over this. Let's talk about this if ManU ever actually makes a bid. And for that to happen, Howard's going to need to start playing for the nats a lot to get his work permit or work that Hungarian connection + hurry Hungary into the EU. Either way, it'll be a few years.
