Looking eerily like another Julian Green.

It’s not promising is it? He has been in enough German camps now to know where he stands among his piers. The US has a forward issue so he certainly has a better shot than with Germany. Why not switch.
Hell, he has Bayern on his resume so among a certain section of US fans it means he must be better than any other US options because they are so bad.

I am skeptical. I’ll take him, but I don’t expect all that much in the next few years TBH.

He's already done more at Bayern than Julian. At 19, he looked better to me than 26 year-old likely peak Julian Green this year in the Bundesliga. Much like we shouldn't pencil him right into the starting lineup because his resume says Bayern, we shouldn't peg him as the next Green just because Green was also at Bayern.

A 20 year old whose highest level is 100 minute in the 3.BL is not ready to help the USMNT this year. This guy is not a catch. Let's be real here.

Looks if he was good enough he would have found minutes somewhere. Like Richards. Richards was at least able to get a cameo for Bayern at 20.

That’s an opinion without having seen him play, correct?

Absolutely. Coaches and scouts see him everyday and don't even give him cameo minutes. Do their opinions mean nothing? I don't care about youth team matches outside of WC matches where you aren't playing against local teens.

I'm just saying he should just be called in cross t's and dot i's and that's it.

I think you're looking at his stats from last season. He has 102 minutes for Bayern in the Bundesliga this season and another 60 in the cup/Champions League, along with ~1,300 in the Regionalliga.

He also doesn't turn 20 until the end of the month.

He's not likely to have any impact on the national team anytime soon though, you're right.

3 goals and an assist in euro 21 qualifying, made the BM game day roster this year 17 times with four appearances and he's set to go out on loan this summer, lastly he's completing his age 19 season while Richards is 22.

We will see what happens when he goes out on loan.

It's good for the U.S. to add a prospect. No denying that. But he's just that, a prospect. His career can go either way.

I mean, they literally did give him cameo minutes at Bayern Munich at 19 years old. What are we talking about?

Tillman did get cameos for Bayern. He played 4 matches (102 minutes) in 1.BL, 2 appearances in UCL and a half in the Pokal.

And those 3.BL numbers are wrong. He played 100 minutes in Fall 2020 before his ACL tear and had 438 minutes in 3.BL in spring 2020 when he was barely 18.

He may not be ready, but let's use the correct numbers.

I’m just shocked at the American fans response to this. It’s like, oh he probably sucks even though we’ve never seen him play.

    What?

I'm skeptical of that. I think he was brought in for a reason. Doesn't mean he'll make it, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if he did. This feels like Musah to me in '20.

I'm not saying he won't be included at some point, I just don't think he'll have much of an effect.

Hope I'm wrong and he blows up over the next 6 months, but I'm not expecting that.

Who exactly, in our vast pool of feisty, technically proficient 8s that score goals so they get made into false 9s, who made their full Champions League debut before the age of 20 for Bayern Munich, would you have preferred to be called in?

That's still a more attractive resume right now than Sargent, or Pepi or Ferreira, only Pefok and Wright have actually accomplished anything worthy of note on the European stage. I won't quibble with what Pepi and Ferreira have done in Dallas, but it's Dallas, the spigot shut off completely after he left (I'll grant it sputtered even before that). Personally I expect Pepi to right the ship once he gets halfway decent midfield play (if ever, same problem Sargent has dealt with), but right now I think the unknown that is Tillman is more attractive than any of the knowns in house other than Wright and Pefok (noting that Pefok is a bad match for our system and I failed to mention Dike whose just had immensely bad luck since last summer).
