The more Mali win, the more games he misses for us. So in the short term it's bad. But in the long term, the more goals he scores and games he wins, the higher his transfer value grows. If the board are genuinely looking to move him on, then in the summer there is a very good chance we could get a big offer, if not several. Even if we keep him, it's always nice to have a player feeling more confident and sucessful, he would realise that he could fulfill all his international ambitions while remaining a Spurs player.
I questioned his motive for playing for Mali, after so recently turning his back on them, being born and raised in France, and having represented France on the youth level. But, if he's going, at least he's giving it his all and making his presence mean something. Congrats to Fredi, and best of luck to Mali. I certainly want them to go as far as they can, and I think all supporters should rally behind the club's players, and that includes on their national team levels. As long as he's scoring, he's more valuable in transfer even if Spurs decide to go in a different direction later in time. But if he comes back to Spurs on another hot streak, then that's a good thing. The only fear I have is injury, and with Kanoute, that's a big worry. Even the stress of regular games can be worrisome for Frageelay Kanoute. Best of luck in the African Nation's Cup, but please come back healthy. -Digital

Mali are very much looking like they could win the whole thing, the most consistently impressive team in the competition so far.
