Former champions Kedah are still struggling with a 0-0 draw today. That leaves there sister team Kuala Muda Naza FC still above them. New boys KL Plus and Kelantan have made decent starts. In other news, the Kelatan supporters have been making a peaceful protest to make FAM reverse the decision on awarding KL Plus a 3-0 win on the opening day of the season. Kelatan were already to play, but the owners of the ground deemed the pitch unsuitable after monsoon conditions watered the pitch before the game. FAM awarded the victory to KL Plus, but the full decision was out of Kelatan's hands. I wonder why FAM didn't overrule any decision and make the referee have the final say rather than a stadium landlord?

Johor, on the other hand, are a bit surprising. Quite how they got into AFC Cup is another matter. But they came from a goal down and a man down to beat Selangor, which will be a big set back to their championship challenge.

Some teams with debts let off the hook by FAM committee By ERIC SAMUEL PETALING JAYA: Malaysia Cup champions Negri Sembilan have not settled dues amounting more than RM200,000 to Slovakian Marian Juhas while newly-promoted Johor have not paid their players three months in salary and bonuses. But the FA of Malaysia (FAM) at their executive committee (exco) meeting on Sunday, surprisingly, took to task only six teams with outstanding debts to pay up by the end of this month or face expulsion next season. The six are Kelantan, Perak, Penang (Super League); Malacca, Shahzan Muda and Pahang (Premier League). The Players Status Committee (PSC) had on July 23 this year instructed the Negri FA (NSFA) to pay 11 months in salary to Juhas by Aug 22 but the call fell in deaf ears and the Slovakian took the case to FIFA. Juhas signed a two-year contract with Negri from Oct 1, 2007 to Oct 30, 2009. However, the contract could not be fulfilled following the FAM decision to exclude foreign players this season. Efforts to come to an amicable solution failed leaving the PSC to instruct the NSFA to pay up. Meanwhile, Mohd Hardy Ahmad said that the majority of the Johor players had left the team after having not received their salaries since September. “I am leaving on a sad note after having helped the team get back into the top flight after a lapse of 10 years,” said Hardy, who has joined Premier League’s Felda United. The other players who have left Johor team in disgust are Saroji Daud (to PKNS), Ezrain Affendi (to Selangor) and Khairul Izuan (to Johor FC). Hardy added that he was also fed up with his previous employers, including Malacca FA (Mafa), who still owed him two months in salary in 2006. The FAM president, Sultan Ahmad Shah, who chaired the exco meeting on Sunday, has said that they would be firm with their decision to axe teams who failed to comply to meet the deadline on Nov 30. Perhaps, the FAM exco should also again look at the poor state of affairs of the other FAs. Perlis have also yet to settle the salary of players for between two and three months and their coach, Irfan Bakti, has left for Terengganu while Golden Boot award winner Mohd Nizaruddin Yusop has moved to KL Plus. The Kelantan FA (Kafa) still owed about RM800,000 to the Employees Provident Fund (EPF). They are debts left behind by the previous management in the 90s. Their chairman of the management committee, Azman Ibrahim, said that they had settled all payment since 2005. “We are being punished for the debts left behind by the previous management. We are in the process of negotiation with the EPF to sort out payment,” said Azman from Kota Baru yesterday. Demoted Pahang have claimed to have settled their debts. Coach Dollah Salleh said that he had received the green light from the Pahang FA president, Tengku Muda Tengku Abdul Rahman Sultan Ahmad Shah, to recruit players for the new season. http://thestar.com.my/sports/story.asp?file=/2009/11/24/sports/5168144&sec=sports
http://www.the-afc.com/en/member-as.../26173-malaysian-u-23s-suffer-friendly-defeat KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian U-23s, who are preparing for next month’s SEA Games, suffered a confidence-eroding 1-0 defeat to Maldives at the UITM Stadium on Thursday. K Rajagobal’s men could do nothing right in the friendly and the only goal of the match was scored from the spot by Ali Ashfaq. According to media reports, the furious coach changed the entire squad for the second half but to little avail. A foul by Md Faisal Muhammad saw Maldives being awarded a penalty that was duly dispatched by Ashfaq past goalie Syed Adney. Rajagobal resorted to more changes in an attempt to bring up the equaliser but his efforts proved in vain as the Malaysians failed to find the net in the face of stubborn resistance from the Maldivians. The two clash again on Sunday before Maldives, who are the SAFF champions, depart for Dhaka for the South Asian showpiece, which runs through December 4-14.
Hopefully if anything, this will benefit Malaysian football in the long run. On a side note, Malaysia has lost 1 spot in the AFC Cup for 2010, the league is on the decline with clubs pulling out left, right and centre. What is happening in Malaysia? Seem's FAM have harmed themselves and whilst other leagues in ASEAN Region are progressing, Malaysia are slipping behind and the same could be said of the natonal team
