"Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee announced today that three D.C. United players – Marco Etcheverry, Earnie Stewart and Eliseo Quintanilla – have been issued a fines of $1,000, $250 and $250, respectively. Etcheverry’s fine reflects his particularly vociferous dissent towards game officials after the three players entered the Referee Secure Area, a violation of League policy, after United’s 1-0 OT road loss against New England.

Anschutz Entertainment Group SVP Kevin Payne was fined $1,000 for his verbal exchange with a U.S. Soccer official made in a public area near the Referee’s Locker Room following United’s 3-2 overtime loss at home against the Columbus Crew on Sunday, October 19 at RFK Stadium. "

Once again MLS proves that it is not serious about handling dissent and player conduct. If MLS had any legitimacy then at least a suspension of Etcheverry would be in order.
