    From mlsnet.com main page:

MLS Commissioner Don Garber will make a major announcement Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET at Pizza Hut Park in Frisco, Texas. Garber will be joined by FC Dallas investor/operator Lamar Hunt, FCD President and General Manager Michael Hitchcock, and Frisco Mayor Mike Simpson.

Any thoughts about what it is?

I'd bet that it's MLS Cup 2006 at PHP.

Edit: I was hoping that it would be FCD's re-signing of Carlos Ruiz, but Don Garber and Mike Simpson wouldn't likely be at that press conference.

Is it not the 2006 All-Star game?

I thought MLS Cup will go to Bridgeview this year.

MLS Cup will be in L.A. this year, according to pre-season e-mails that Galaxy fans have received

Rumor has it that Bridgeview will get the All-Star game, and MLS Cup was between LA and Dallas. I'd guess from this announcement that Dallas won.

I'm betting that the Galaxy are going to have to do a quick about-face on that one.

Edit: Unless they built in some sort weasel language into those e-mails.

Re: Major announcement set for Frisco

Any chance they could be announcing that Frisco has been declared the center of the universe, and that they actually are announcing two events: 1) re-signing of El Pescadito and 2) PHP hosts MLS Cup?

I know it's not Christmas, but hey, they need to do both.

Could be KC sale to out of towners and not wanting to announce it in KC?

They would announce it in the city they were moving to if that was the case, not in Dallas. It's the MLS Cup, has to be, or if B-View won't be ready they'll get the MLS cup and Dallas the All-Star Game.

Can't be... Word is he's going to take the England job.. At least that's the rumor from reliable sources at The Sun..

Wish it was Ruiz news but that could only be additional news at the conference...
    Must be the Cup...

That's not MLS related enough for the people involved in this press conference.. I doubt they would even call a conference for that..

If Lamar Hunt is going to be there, I think it's going to be a ownership/invester issue.

I was really hoping it would be the re-signing of Carlos Ruiz. I guess I feel that keeping him in MLS is way more important than where MLS Cup will be played.

    Oh well.

How many other major announcements involving Dallas has Lamar Hunt been present for? I lost count when it got into the double digits. Most of them had nothing to do with an ownership issue.

Now this is a stretch, but what about the possibility of Dallas getting the other expansion franchise for 2007 and that franchise beign Club America USA. Things didn't go as planned in Houston so they decided to move all plans to Dallas. Dallas is in the midwest right? A stadium is already in place, right? New hype, new derby, more $$$$.

Oh and Carlos Ruiz could stay in Dallas just not playing with FC Dallas, but rather with the new expansion team.

Just speculating, but you have to ask yourself, why would Lamar Hunt be there and also the mayor of Frisco. I don't know, but it sounds like a big deal:confused:

Or it could be because he lives in Dallas and it's relatively easy for him to be at these things.

Not necessarily. I'm going with the "All-Star game in Dallas, MLS Cup in LA" guess myself.

Re: Major announcement set for Frisco

I don't understand why they would award Dallas the MLS cup 2 years in a row. It's not that nice of a stadium :) I think it is a huge mistake not to have the cup in bridgeview. Every new stadium should get the cup the first year it is operational. Just my opinion.

I would guess it is a bigger announcement than where the cup is going to be played, but I could be wrong. I really hope it isn't a second team playing in Dallas. That would be the biggest mistake MLS could make. Dallas has a hard time pulling in 10k for one team.
