Just a shot in the dark here. Otherwise we're (two Mainz fans) stuck reading the kigges forum to see how 05 does in their first ever UEFA cup qualification adventure. Or anyone watching DSF have a interent cam and wanna point it toward the tv? :) Would figure that I'm back in the states for the summer exactly during the home fixture. oh well. any help would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!

    Mainz 05 celebrates 4:0-Erfolg in UEFA-Cup-debut

Bundesligist FSV Mainz 05 underlined its UEFA-cup-ambitions and celebrated a gelungenes debut on the international soccer-stage: the preceding year-climber overcome in the first UEFA-Cup-qualification round the arms niche cup victor FC Mika Aschtarak 4:0 (2:0) and can plan therewith already before the return match on the 28 July (Thursday) in Eriwan already for the second round.

Altogether Mainz of two qualification runs as well as the first head round must overcome in order to take in into the lucrative groups phase of the UEFA-Cups.

Before 22,000 spectators in the new Frankfurt World CUP stadium, that is out of capacity reason in the UEFA-Cup game site of the Rhine Hesses, new access Petr Ruman worried already after eight minutes for the earned leadership. After a striking mistake of guests-goalkeeper Garnik Howhannisjan, the one 30-meter-schuss 30-meter-schuss meters of 30-meter-schuss shot of Benjamin Weigelt toward the characteristic gate faustete, staubte FSV-aggressor Benjamin Auer yet before the recess to the 2:0 from (36.) Interior defenders obtained in the second section Nikolce Noveski per head the 3:0 (58.) before again Auer (67. encountered) to the Endstand.

FSV-trainer Jürgen Klopp was with the premiere of its team in a European competition high peace: 'what itself the boys after three weeks preparation abverlangt have, was magnificent', the coach meant and went already of the entrance into the second round from: 'it actually would have to have run. But we will go nevertheless to arms ions and try again to play rational soccer.'

    Pressure of start on

The Mainzer pressured in its premiere in a European competition the table second of the arms niche league, in which already 13 game days are graduated, immediately in the beginning minutes. Consistently the hosts came through a 16-m-schuss 16-m-schuss m 16-m-schuss shot the of Zweitligist SpVgg. Greuther Fürth to Mainz of changed midfield player Ruman to the leadership. Also subsequently the FSV was superior, however the earlier çU21'-Nationalspieler Auer would have been able to worry before both hits already for a precedent. Yet first of all the Stürmer did not fail recognized due to Howhannisjan (26.), three minutes later Referee per Ivar starling mountain out of Norway an Auer-gate because of foul game on.

'It runs optimally for us, must continue we. In that qualification round only change is to be earned to be sure, but also that is important to a society as well as Mainz 05', meant manager Christian Heidel in the half-time recess.

    Mainzer defensive without weakness

That over far stretches of been subject 'Underdogs' out of arms ions the respect was before the unaccustomed large wing of the first minute clear at anzumerken. The aggressors Hratscha Mikaeljan and Karen Asatrjan were able to sit down and were hardly in scene in the strong Mainzer it pi trained Noveski and Manuel Friedrich in good hands. Moreover open beards the east Europeans who offered altogether no international level, large voting problems in the defensive.

FSV-trainer Jürgen Klopp trusted in the first duty game of the new season up to a change entirely the team that had secured the classes receipt in the past game time prematurely. A chance of start got alone new accesses Ruman on and convinced not only based on its hit. On the other hand the aggressor come by the league rival Borussia Dortmund to Mainz Otto Addo counted based on a knee injury not yet to the Kader. Moreover US national player Conor Casey, that suffered a cross volume tear in the right knee in the use for its homeland in the gold Cup and must pause a half year, was missing.
