Maybe this was mentioned in another thread, but with the excitement of the world cup I missed it until now: http://thelagalaxy.blogspot.com/2010/06/mike-magee-to-miss-4-6-weeks.html Although Magee is no world beater, he was certainly a useful player this year, able to switch between midfield and forward. With Donovan and Buddle out for awhile longer and Beckham's arrival still a ways off (if at all), we're a little stretched right now. When Dema returns, Birchall can play out wide and help there and we also have Alex and Lewis/Klein available. Still, this seems to leave us thin at forward. I guess we have Gordon, Bowen, Kirovski, and Jordan. Considering that Kirovski is also cover at the midfield, that's not a lot of depth with multiple games upcoming.
I don't think that the has featured in the last 2 -3 matches. The team has not missed him, but he might be important as we get into the cup matches. (and to eat minutes in friendlies!)
That was my thinking. We certainly can win without him, but he was nice veteran depth to have in the rotation when we are playing regular season, cup, and friendlies over the next month or so. Most of the older vets like Klein, Lewis, Mathis (who I forgot in the original post), and Kirovski are not great candidates for 2-3 games a week.
Crap. I echo the sentiments of many on here, he'll be important down the stretch. Speedy recovery hopefully.
Quality player; an important part of our depth, which is one of the great strengths of our team. Speedy recovery, Mike.
huh, anyone else notice that since magee went out injured (columbus) we've gone 5-5-3 in all competitions and given up 21 goals.
Ugh, don't bump threads with subject titles like this one !!! Nice nutmeg on that defender yesterday in the early second half...shame about the finish. I like Magee, wish he could be just a bit more composed in front of goal in games. With Mathis and Gordon gone, Magee is very important.
