According to DSF Newscenter that wants to have the news from insiders in Stuttgart, Felix Magath will leave Stuttgart towards Schalke after the season. Magath, who has good chances to reach the Champions League with his team of young talents and some old key players, lately was not satisfied with the club hesitating to give him money for new players. The officials first want to see the international competition they are in next year before calculating. Magath feared that then it is too late to get the players he wants. In the course of the hesitating he realised that his exaggerated aims to become champion 2005 with Stuttgart won't become reality.

Now it seems that Schalke offered him the job he is waiting for. Despite of no international participation next year, he is coming to a team with a bright future and an infrastructure that is light years ahead of the one in Stuttgart. GM Assauer was looking for an experienced coach to get his team of difficult characters under control - something neither Frank Neubarth nor Marc Wilmots could achieve lately.

It also seems that Stuttgart is doing an internal change on the coaching position. Krassimir Balakov, who retires from his active career, shall become head coach already next season.

According to DSF these news will be announced to the public after the final whistle tomorrow.

Huge news. Schalke may be a better situation than Stuttgart, but Stuttgart is the more compelling team. Schalke strikes me as being talented collection of players that don't really go together. Of course, Magath makes it sound like Stuttgart's ambition (or lack thereof) is the reason for his decision, but . . . how much more is he going to make with Schalke? Call me cynical, but this seems to be all about the money.

at the moment both Schalke ( Rudi Assauer.. ) and Felix Magath are denying that he signed a contract ( or will sign a contract) at Schalke.
If Magath does so, i will be very disappointed. He build up such a good and young team in Stuttgart over the last 2 years - it would be a real shame by Magath to leave this great team alone to go to Schalke for whatever reason. But Magath is a coach who never spend a long period of time at a club - he always was fired ( Hamburg, Frankfurt.. ) or left on his own ( Nuernberg, Werder, Stuttgart ?? ).

Interesting situation: DSF, SAT1 and sport1.de are claiming the change. As tegtmeier said, Magath, Schalke and Stuttgart deny. DSF says that they'll tell it tomorrow. Others like kicker don't even mention this topic.

I believe it´s true. And I think it´s a shame. It´s modern football. If you try to build something new (like Stuttgart did, a club which I don´t really like btw) and you have the slightest success, the rich teams come and rip everything apart. What Gladbach had in the seventies, building up a great and succesful team over years will NEVER happen again. Modern football bussiness is so unfair.
    Ich könnte kotzen!

Pretty wild stuff, and curious on Magath's part.

At Stuttgart he can go to the Champions League with an excellent core of young players (regardless of not being able to buy new players). You would think that would be enticing enough.

At Schalke he would have some good players and money to spend, but no Europe. Plus, he would have to deal with the megolomaniacal Rudi Assauer.

Oh well, it keep things interesting in the Bundesliga :)

A big positive is that Magath at Schalke could make Schalke more of a contender (and a thorn in Bayern's side). Magath is a proven motivator and tactician and with the talent Schalke has (which is pretty good) and manangement being willing to spend, Schalke could become a force. I am always glad to see higher competition in the Bundesliga.
