🚨 BREAKING: Arbeloa was offered to Bayer Leverkusen. However, the club does not believe he is READY. @BILD ❌ pic.twitter.com/NNdco3mmr2— Madrid Xtra (@MadridXtra) June 3, 2026
I hope a Serie A team follows the footsteps of Como with Fabregas and gives Arbeloa a chance. I'm sure he will deliver.
How are those two in any way connected other than by nationality? It's like saying i hope somebody looks at what Haaland is doing and signs Holjund. Riera was in the same coaching class with Xabi and Iraola and he was a complete melt at Frankfurt.
Theyre also connected by age, which together with nationality and playing experience means they went through similar schools and philosophies.
Absolute horse hockey. You want to know who's also connected by nationality, and age? De Zerbi and Gattuso. Or how about Bordalas and Marcelino?
The Italians have different schools and paths. Also older coaches diverge more as their careers and styles develop. But for early career coaches, especially those trained under the Spanish system, and former big club and national team players, for sure share the same heritage. Either way Arbeloa has talent and I hope there will be someone that recognizes it.
I think you're talking shit on this one considering I also named Spanish coaches that are vastly different. It's OK.
I wonder if we might be in for him. Dude will likely end up at Barca and this is Mendes trying to get more money from them but I do think he would be a good fit for us too. Also not too hyped about Konate or Dumfries but then I remember the alternatives are Huijsen Asencio and 2026 Carvajal. This is a huge step up from that.
Ramon Alvarez said Mou asked RM to sign Bernardo and player is keen to join, but club not keen right now due to age. Let's see if it changes if he shines in the World Cup.
Philip Lahm: The Premier League stands for athleticism and power, Spain for skill and ball control, but what does the Bundesliga stand for? Right now, I can't think of anything.
Hasn't it been open style football for Bundesliga? I am aware of Bundesliga tax narrative since 2002 at least. Ailton was a poster boy of the thinking that his scoring numbers won't translate to other top leagues. Outside Top 5 leagues, Dutch league had the same reputation after Kezman struggled at Chelsea after killing it with PSV for years. That impacted Alfonso Alves' market who had only Middlesbrough interested in him after scoring for fun in Dutch League. He flopped badly at Boro too.
A former Bundesliga coach that had a photoshoot at our gym for 11 Freunde told me if things continue as they stand he can't imagine any team winning the league ahead of Bayern to the mid 2030s.
Both Kezman and Afonso were of the same profile too. They were neither very technical nor athletic. It was all about their positioning and finishing (I think Gyökeres also fits this profile). And in the bigger leagues that is not enough. Then you have beasts like Luis Suarez and Ibrahimovic who also came from the Dutch league. I don't think I have to explain the difference here. In the smaller leagues it's not really about scoring a lot of goals. Other skills are arguably more important.
Nottingham Forest reportedly turn down Man City's offer for Elliot Anderson of around £70M. Forest looking for over £100M
Looks like Modric will retire after the WC. He would be a perfect fit for assistant manager, which is likely why we won’t do it lol
Can we jump in on this? Pretty reasonable argument can be made that Anderson is the better profile fit than Enzo for our midfield personnel. Less marketable perhaps, but makes a ton of a tactical sense
The kind of money they are asking for is completely irrational. Even City's offer I think is outside of the real of what Madrid would spend.
