Honestly Barella is the closest thing to a Modric that is out there. And this is the type of player we need. Not really a classic deep playmaker who dictates play, nor a classic box to box player, but a mix of the two - someone who is excellent at both passing and covering ground, and also doesn't shy away from getting dirty.

I've personally thrown the towel. This team is full of tankers who don't have the steel. Pep always finishes strong like SAF back then despite slow starts.

I still can't believe he signed Norgaard and doesn't use him played down the two mids to the brim. And worst, he signed Noni Madueke to be Saka's competition. No wonder Saka has coasted. That isn't a threat.

it feels like the most important parameter of Opta when they are talking about teams is being an EPL team.

They did finish top in the CL league phase beating Bayern along the way pretty decisively. That probably carries alot of weight.

Plus it was only last weekend that they actually lost a meaningful match for the first time since January, even though they have looked mediocre for a while.

I talked about EPL teams, not only about Arsenal.
But if you’re talking about Arsenal, they’ve lost 3 of their last 4 matches. On Saturday, it wasn’t the first time since January that they lost a meaningful match. They lost to Southampton week and a half ago in the FA Cup quarter-final, and about three weeks ago they lost the League Cup final to City. I guess you don’t count these two matches as meaningful ones.

We didn't just win we won cleanly. These are the same players some now want sold.

We have one imbalance but one is enough

I don't know much about Opta's methods, but I would guess there is a weighting system involved. At least there should be. That was a full B team that Arsenal played in the FA Cup and the Carabao Cup or whatever its called is any top team's 4th priority.

I agree. We could perhaps have continued our great form if the same set of players had played. Now they've all turned terrible again.

Didn't know that Kai, Odegaard, Martinelli, Gabriel and White are part of the B team. also, Arsenal B team should beat without no problem a team that ranked 6th(in that time) in the Championship.
    upload_2026-4-14_16-5-3.png

So a team whose last title was the FA Community Shield in 2023 shouldn’t care about winning the Carabao Cup when they’re already in the final?
Well, I guess Arteta didn’t get the memo, because Arteta played their A team and Kepa.

You didn't know Ben White was "B" team? Arsenal has 6 other defenders with more minutes than him this season. Only Gabriel is among the top 11 in minutes played for Arsenal this season. Odegaard would be top 11 if he was healthy, though he often starts on the bench even when healthy because Arteta like to go super conservative for some odd reason. The others aren't first choice players.

Sure, they care, but my point was that I'd be surprised if Opta weighs Cup matches the same as CL and EPL matches.

Well, he started the last 7 games for Arsenal so i wouldn't call him B team.
Kai was injured most of the season and Martinelli is playing on rotation in the LW spot with Maduke and Trossard and he started their last 4 games.
yet it really doesn't matter cuz

My point at the first post was really simple - it looks like they are giving extra points for teams that play in the EPL and not only in their "power ranking".
and no, i don't know if they are weighing in domestic Cup matches or only the league and the European coemptions.

Atletico couldn’t last 4 minutes. They are getting wrecked today. 4 or 5 goals.

Lenglet is the best Barca player.
Lenglet making a mistake that worth a goal against Barca is the safest bet there is.

Gerrard Martin playing CB for Barca. Would be pathetic if Atleti can't score couple of goals at home.

People make fun of Arsenal but Atletico are truly the greatest ever bottlers. There isn’t a lead they aren’t capable of losing.
