Zidane also maintained class when losing. Most irritating lot are the likes of Flick who acts holier than thou claiming refs should be respected, they are humans when things go his way and then start attacking refs when it doesn't go his way. Hypocrisy peak.
Football is full of those Barcelona and Madrid fans are all EQUALLY convince things are rigged for the other and would give their life for that belief then they both show hundred of clips of each other having non calls or favorable calls against each other as evidence. people only see things one way, can’t expect coaches to be more neutral when fanbases are willingly blinded by victimhood. They take the cake because they actually had a ref in the payroll and still claim to be victims lol, but I find how convinced both sides are that it is 100% rigged for the other to be the funniest and most ironic conundrum in life
Yeah, but the gulf in red cards for and against Madrid vs Barca in La Liga vs Europe in the last 20+ years since Negreira ridiculous. I dunno how anyone can explain that away.
Simply removing Ramos' cards isn't the way to go about this though. If Ramos didn't play for Madrid, the guy replacing him would still probably get around 10 red cards for that same time frame. The numbers are simply too ridiculous in La Liga, considering the stats are pretty close in Europe even with Ramos.
I think you’re right, but the expectation to be given favourable calls consistently like in the Camp Nou is unique to any other stadium imo, and it stems from decades of corruption. The Camp Nou went apeshit over not being given a penalty for the Atleti player touching the ball to take a goal kick, I just can’t see that reaction elsewhere on the same night, people were legit losing their minds. We’ve had big games in Europe where refs calls definitely favoured us as well no doubt. The Bayern 2016/17 second leg is mentioned a lot, even though Bayern had some big calls go their way as well, but still.
Real Madrid does get favorable calls from time to time, much like any other team. Calls tend to balance themselves out in the longrun as we see in Europe. That isn't a problem. Those can be chalked down as mostly referee mistakes. But in La Liga, its egregious. That graphic I posted is actually outdated. The difference if you include this season is even larger. Also, Cules initial reaction when losing: blame the refs RM fan initial reaction after loss: blame the coach/ players Thats a huge difference in mentality.
Not to mention, since Ramos obviously played in CL too, that doesn't explain the insane discrepancy between leagues.
🚨 Fran Soto (Head of the Spanish referees) when asked about Negreira payments:"If one of my vice presidents had been collecting nearly 8 million euros from a club for 17 years, I would think he was a deadbeat and I would fire him on the spot. Something like that cannot be… pic.twitter.com/7ZV4PjevUN— MADRID SPOT (@MadridSpot) April 10, 2026 Can’t believe there are a few who don’t believe this happened or no evidence to back it
2 consecutive la league titles for Barca while this is maybe the worst economic Barca team ever, who hardly can register players. yet we can’t exploit it and win the league. I always thought post Messi era this will end, but I was mistaken. This some very pure management by the officials at RM
It happens we have to figure things out in the summer. Hopefully the issues are highlighted and at least attempted to he addressed
Unfortunately, the management has botched it by assemblying aguably the most incompatible talented team ever.
Exactly but man nothing to see here.. Over this same period those teams go to Europe and get trounced by teams we knock out. Nothing odd there. As you have alluded it's very obvious why they have such success in the league and the same team constantly disappoints against inferior teams in Europe. They don't get the slanted calls and non-calls.. it's harder without help.
Exactly. It's odd seeing people who believe they're intelligent completely disregard facts and obvious discrepancies. Yet if it were us with such a discrepancy we wouldn't deny it and they wouldn't either.
Nah, reckon they'll still win the league. Manchester City are not playing great either and have a tougher run. Even if they win all their games and beat Arsenal, Arsenal will still be ahead on goal difference (assuming that doesn't change of course).
Arsenal are the definition of losers. if they are losing this championship they will be the biggest joke in football history. at least they got an easy path at the UCL knockout stages so they couldn't get knocked out before the semi-finals.
I want City to win the EPL and then receive a points deduction the day after the season ends, sending them to 2nd division.
I mean, bottling four competitions is still a kind of a quadruple, if you think about it— Paddy Power (@paddypower) April 11, 2026
LMAO, poor arsenal fans. To bottle in such style is really an art. IF City win their next two it's only a 3 points difference.
I find it funny how people are ridiculing Arsenal for potentially bottling the league (they are still first), while we have fumbled the first place twice this season and are 9 points behind Barcelona at this point.
