Go on. I dont follow Atleti as much as other clubs, so if I've missed someone obvious, do share.

Ok, so Griezmann joined them in 2013 or 14, and we're gonna go back 12 or 13 years to find an attacker that Simeone improved?

Got anyone from the ~post pandemic era?

    From 2013 or 14, that's your guy?

And if Griezmann is the attacker Simeone Improved, why didn't he do so more recently? (Atleti have spent lavishly in recent years, so he would have had to have someone more recent than that, yes?)

I seem to remember him getting less productive at Atleti than he was in the EPL. At least, in his second stint with them.

He went 5 months without playing professional football because he was frozen out of Chelsea before he joined Atletico. Never recovered his form. That's Simeone’s fault how?

Falcao, Diego Costa, Griezmann, Arda Turan, Suarez did well under Simeone. Maybe the issue was Berta wasted a lot of money on attacking projects that didn't pan out. Felix for example whom Simeone wasn't keen to sign.

Berta signed Gyokeres, Madueke and Eze for 170 ME at Arsenal and none of them are looking like hits.

He's a 34 year old striker that has a ratio of a goal per 120 minutes played. That's excellent. I think you just don't follow football close enough.

Totally makes sense that this would happen at Vallecas. Everything about that stadium is several decades out of date.

Yeah, would be good to see both Oviedo and Racing Santander in La Liga next season. The latter is likely but highly doubt Oviedo can make up the 7 points to grab 17th position.

Yes he is, but then thats not what I posted. I posted:

"I'm thinking, and I cant recall an attacker that went to Atleti, and raised his level, thanks to Simeone’s management."

So, my posts weren't about, "tell me about Atleti attackers that are good," as you seem to suggest.

Its more about Simeone, and whether or not he can help Lookman lift his pathetic output of 2 league goals and zero assists with Atleti.

And even if we were to accept your suggestion of Griezmann having been improved by going to Atleti, and raised his level, thanks to Simeone’s management, thats still 12 or 13 years ago. Thats a LIFETIME ago in this game, and perhaps not so cogent to the discussion about Simeone. Hell, both Messi and Ronaldo were still in La Liga when Simeone supposedly helped Griezmann raise his level.

Since then, who has he helped? I see that Atleti brought in Gallagher, but thanks (in part) to Simeone, he's since fled back to the EPL. Midget Julian Alvarez, whom culers are supposed to like for some reason has scored about as effectively in La Liga as an impotent 95 year old man this season. He hasn't scored in La Liga since November. (If that happened with your club or mine, the supporters would have lost their shït about that weeks ago.)

Tl/DR: This isn't about, "tell me who's good at Atleti," its about "who has Simeone helped." If you're gonna hop in the DeLorean with Doc Brown's to 2013 or 14 to find someone, thats a long time ago.

No one said that it was, but posters threw up some names that Simeone supposedly helped raised his level, thanks to Simeone’s management.

I dont think Simeone did much for Diego Costa. I dont think he did much for Gallagher. I doubt he's done much for Alvarez.

And again, if you want to credit Simeone for helping Griezmann get better upon his arrival at Atleti, cool. But thats kinda-sorta ancient history, isn't it?

I'm asking this, because to your point Lookman should be at his peak, but he's produced Jack and shït at Atalanta. Is Simeone really the man to help Lookman get back to his best?

    I dunno.

Griezmann also improved when he returned to Atleti from Barca in 2022. He was more productive playing for Atleti than for France where there is probably more offensive talent around him.

God, that was such a moronic purchase and a moronic time at Barça. I KNEW he would fail at Barça, and I KNEW he would revert to form once he left.

Griezmann was never needed at Barça, but as is typical for presidents of our club, he was signed to give the morons in and around Barça their jollies, rather than sticking strictly to the roster's needs.

Simeone has raised the level of practically every single striker they've signed. You're just being weird.

I would basically say no other club comes close to having this many hits at striker as they do. Just that people's brains have been poisoned by the stat padding going on by teams that they don't see class.

I can't think of a single Atleti lineup without a dangerous guy up front. What a weird take.

Amorim was a waste of time. Clubs are currently getting valuable lessons in coaching hiring, but I wonder if they even notice.

And to that, I state that we'll have to see how it works out with Lookman.

It didn't go so well for Costa when he left the EPL, and it isn't going so well for Alvarez right now.

Man Utd are currently playing better football than us. That’s how far we’ve dropped in quick fashion

Probably helps at this time of the season not having to play mid-week European football. They've also been pretty damn lucky during this 4-match win streak. If United fans think the club has finally turned the corner, they are in for a rude awakening.
