What a year for Spain: The Capital City team RM win the Champions League Spain win the European Cup And now Spain win the Gold medal
France ran out of steam in the end Henry with some terrible choices today. Taking out the LB and DM. The replacements were terrible. Then putting Doue as a RB when he was having joy down that left hand side. It became too lopsided especially after Cherki came on. Mateta ran out of steam at the worst time. If this was France's tactics they should have brought another big CF instead of wasting an over 23 spot on Lacazette Bayern will have upgraded incredibly well if they get Doue along with the already signed Olise.
They've done similar streaks in the pass as well. Can't remember the year, but it was the same as above + Nadal winning the tennis and a few others.
They have played a game every 3 days, 120 min 3 days ago, traveled between cities as games were held in different cities, with a group of 18 players only, not their best best 18 either only those that were allowed by their clubs to go, during what is supposed to be the pre-season, under August weather. The subs were not done for tactical reasons only, but the players were exhausted and the choices on the bench are limited. The Olympics should remove 11 v 11 football from the competition and replace it with futsal and beach soccer, or even an 7 v 7 format. Futsal needs some light.
Great summer for Men Spanish football. Now all Barca fans and Vini haters will pump Fermin for the ballon d'or instead of Rodri? He won the Olympics gold+Euros and had more G/A than Rodri.
They were DOWN 3 goals. Of course they pushed hard, and yet they were making the game happen and got countered. The scoreline doesn't tell the story. You know when it will be interesting, when the captains and coaches vote for the FIFA award. That's when we'll see who the game votes for.
Davies set a record vertical at the Bayern medicals. Before you gasp and say oh wow, be aware that the reported vertical is 61 cm, which is slightly above 24 inches.
You're charged a premium if a player is EPL proven. Solanke is great just unlucky with injuries and game time at youth level. I'm not suprised he did well with a fully fit season last year. Infact, that for me is his only issue. Injuries.
I'm thinking of a La Liga predictions thread. It closes on Thursday before/before matchday 1. Similar to what we did with the Euro and the Copa. Format: La Liga top 5: La Liga bottom 5: Biggest upwards leap from last year (most positions gained): Biggest downwards slide from last year (most positions lost): First coach to be sacked: Shocker of the season (surprise sacking, surprise hiring, surprise bust): If this gets enough positive responses here we're opening it and shutting it down around the first kick off of the season.
So as you guys discussed: Spain mens team won gold in the olympics. Here's something additional: Wow. Incredible. Add to that Real, Atletico and Barca making some big signings this summer...it's a great time for football fans of Spain.
Spurs is a big step up from his current club. That will be his biggest challenge. Benteke was PL proven at Villa, but couldn't cut it at Liverpool after big money move. Same for Lukaku from Everton to Man Utd.
Here's something about player development : 𝘽𝙍𝙀𝘼𝙆𝙄𝙉𝙂: Trevoh Chalobah has been barred from using the first team facilities at Cobham.[@Matt_Law_DT] pic.twitter.com/EMYtg4hyOh— Transfer Sector (@TransferSector) August 10, 2024
4th tier MK Dons have been bought by a Kuwaiti billionaire family. If you were looking for a cheap lower league club to buy where you didn't have to invest in facilities they would be one. Tiny fan base, and it will never be big, but they have a 30,000 seater stadium that is often said to be one of the best around outside of the more well known big stadiums.

It was a revenge for the Euro 1984 Final when France beat Spain. that same year, England beat Spain for the Under 21 European title, and Spain also got their revenge in the Euro 2024..
🚨🍒 Bournemouth and Barcelona have agreed on €10m deal for Julián Araujo as new right back for the Cherries.Deal to be formally completed next week, as @tjuanmarti has reported. pic.twitter.com/5EywOp89uo— Fabrizio Romano (@FabrizioRomano) August 10, 2024 Omg Barca sold araujo for ten mil!
They bought him for 4 ME EPL team are like that dense kid at schooled that gets taken to the cleaners
In the end, they got the fee they want for them both. de Ligt is better than all the CB they got, but he still isn't the 1 will take Untied back to the top.
Ten Hag seems to want his Ajax team back, lol. If I'm an exec at Barca, I'd give hints that Frenkie may be available at a fee (well) north of Antony's. Who knows...
