45 million euros for a kid who didn’t play a minute for Atleti

£65m upfront with the rest add ons. Still seems a bit steep for me.

8 goals at Alaves and didn't score a goal after February. Chelsea are signing so many of these profile and majority of them won't get proper time to develop.

Yep, quite average player. Atleti's environment may be good for him.

Olmo to Barca here we go. Better start learning Arabic Fermin and Torre

Some Barca fans are unhappy because they'd rather sign a starting DM with that money as they already have Fermin with similar profile as Olmo.

Yeah, I thought it would be about €20 mn or so less. But Alvarez is about as safe a bet as you can have. Even if he is a bit disappointing under Simeone's tactics, I'm sure a Bayern, Chelsea or Man United will offer similar money for him down the line.

Man City made a huge profit on Alvarez! Paid less than Euro 20mn for him just 21/2 years ago.

Alvarez to Atletico for big money.....
Does this mean a last minute push by Pep for Rodrygo?

Going to be an interesting next few weeks....

They are linked with Eze who has 60 M buyout clause. Alvarez is leaving because he's not a regular starter. Doesn't make sense for Rodrygo to take that spot at City when Carlo is likely shifting to 4-3-3 this season.

Man City surely balancing the books here for FFP, don't think they'll spend big on a replacement.

If we got a 100m offer for Rodrygo we’d be foolish not to take it. His value will only decline now that he’s likely to get less minutes overall.

Yeah Barca subreddit is kinda weirded out by Olmo's signing. They know he's a quality player, but his position is covered already and Olmo is constantly injured too. Besides, all they really want is a left winger and a CDM. They think Olmo will play in a more of a LCAM role with a slight change in formation. Dunno, but he's class when fit.

    Yes hopefully. I want Rodrygo
Hope you're right. We should keep him definitely and push him to that "next level".....Kid is crazy talented.

With Rodrygo we're at peace with Vini and Kylian and can rest either of them or have a top replacement whenever someone is down for a few games.

I think his role will be very important this season.

Nah......need at least on more season. We're trying to win everything...now's not the time to make the squad weaker. If you must save some money, sell Ceballos and maybe even Brahim before Rodrygo..

Eh, I cant speak for all Culers.

But most SANE Culers know a redundant luxury purchase when they see one.

Olmo's preferred spot is as a #10. But that role is covered. At least, to a reasonable degree. So what, they're gonna square-peg Olmo into a LW role? Or change the entire formation around to fit a good (but not GREAT) player who's a bit of a China doll?

The other side of this is that most Culers are just over the whole financial drama, and want that behind the club as quickly as possible.

This is shades of Bartomeu. This is the dark side of a democratically-elected president more interested in his own re-election, than he is in righting the ship financially.

Atlético had 360 ME annual revenue in 2022-23, Dortmund 420 ME and Spurs 620 ME. Yet Atlético seems to have similar spending power as Spurs. Dortmund's record transfer free is 35 ME spend on Dembele in 2017.

They got already Grelish, Doku and they bought Savio. They don't need another LW.
