Football always starts a couple of days early because of match spacing / scheduling.

Scoring 8 goals is not the same as being just on of the players. Rodri did not even play second half of the final.

I agree. Completely different. Just saying Balon d'Or has been given solely for NT tournament performances before.

But I think in Rodri's case, his work at Man City is certainly being considered. Not that I would agree with it.

It’s obvious the Rodri for Balon dor push is a PR move. Vini and Bellingham both get a lot of negativity publicity, we can argue why and we know that it’s all ridiculous etc but that is still the case for whatever reason.

Rodri is a nice representative for them, so they will twist the narrative to make it seem like he deserves it. Funny thing is every argument you could make for Rodri, you can hold up Carvajal as a better example. Neither should win it obviously.

Joke of an “award”. I wish players did not give it the time of day.

Argentina is not used to getting fouls called on them. They are struggling with this concept

You missed the target completely. In 2002 not only did R9 have a monster World Cup (maybe best WC by a player ever) he also returned to La Liga on fire. Scored a goal in his debut for Madrid in 1 minute, and finished the match with a brace. There was really no arguing he was alone at the top as the best player in the world at that time.

The only time in my lifetime the Bd'O was given purely for NT performance was the last time Messi won it. There's probably room to allege some sort of crime was committed for him to have earned that (fraud, extortion, ???). Messi is probably the only player to undeservedly win it more than one time (if we are going to claim there were other undeserved winners).

There's no case for Rodri to win it. Carvajal definitely deserves it more based on his playing CB in CL and winning the European cup at club and national team level (I mean that is if we are not going to give it to the absolutely clearly and undisputible best player in the world Vinicius Jr.)

Man i wonder if we would've left Brahim go if France wouldn't have made a fuss about Mbappe. This would have been an opportunity for him to win. Morocco can definitely win a medal here.

Gonna be hilarious if US beats France or evetually wins the gold. The French maybe rightfully could hate Real Madrid and Mbappe if that happens.

But yeah Flo really missing the mark on the enforsment and sponsorhip opportunities of having an Olympic gold medalist in the squad. The man ain't what he used to be.

Morocco have themselves to blame. Came on in the second half to defend the lead. Small team mentality. Completely outplayed Argentina in the first half.

The referee decided this game. Completely undeserved tie for Argentina. There was no reason for an extra time half and on top of that they score after the end of the added 15min. They didn’t stop that much in the game at all. Complete disgrace of a referee.
yellow cards going all one side all game.

Huh? Have you even watched the game? Only themselves to blame?

LOL. I would have called it the @J-Mezzy jinx, but who didn't see this coming. At the BdO they will talk about how Messi inspried the team.

It wasn’t even fairly reffed. For the game to end with 2 yellow cards for Argentina and 6 for Morocco there is definitely an issue knowing how harsh Argentina plays. Lots of errors. A robbery.

The PK given to Morocco was about as soft as we will ever see. During the 2nd half, so many of the Moroccan players falling trying to stop play. And the "fans" running into the pitch. What a disgraced of a game. Seemed more like a game organized by the Copa America peeps rather than anything else

Yeah that was a soft pk. I think that’s when the refs turned it up for Argentina to make it up

And if they did that, even more disgusting. I hate it when refs think that a bad decision will make up for a previous bad decision. But ultimately, the reason the game was a tie is because the Moroccan players stopped playing football and parked the bus. Also, the dumb fans running into the pitch didn't help

You're not going to see a lot of unbiased opinions here, but Morocco didn't want to play in the second half. Commentator was constantly saying how much of an injustice they are doing to themselves to just get on the back foot and not play like they did in the first half.
