I do not understand why some Madrid fans want him to not renew his contract or something along those lines. They are about to fully push him for a Ballon D'or, give him the number 10 which was worn by the best Barcelona player (Messi) in their entire history. It makes no sense to not pay what the player is requiring, they cannot purchase any player on the market that can replace him. This Barcelona team will be built around him for the next 10-15 years, I do not know why people want to deny it so much.

 

This year's ballon d'Or will make little sense to many, because

I don't think he's the favourite for ballon d'Or yet. Some of the more established names will probably get the nod over him, like Salah or Dembele. But next year I can definitely see him being one of the favourites if his trajectory continues, and if Barca wins something.
