This is really detailed. Rodrygo out, Wirtz in, and back to a four man midfield for next season … I wish we’d go for that.
Report on May 15. The €150m price tag is a myth and a lie, pushed by lazy German journalists who repeated a figure Fernando Carro mentioned over a year ago in a Spanish interview, which he already walked back two weeks ago when asked about it again.Every club involved, whether foreign or Bayern…— Bayern Space (@BayernSpace) May 21, 2025 This isn’t exactly a journalist. But he’s also suggesting the 150 million rumor is a lie and it’s more like 100 plus 20. If Wirtz truly isn’t interested in Bayern, and Liverpool is the only main contender for his signature… as @Doni suggested idk how we don’t pounce on that, especially with Xabi coming. A Rodrygo sale would cover most of that cost
It is incredible that Real Madrid "lacks the financial and strategic means" to secure a high profile transfer. Man I don't know what is happening behind the scenes but I think they lied their asses off about the management of cost of the new Bernabeu rebuild. That is the only explanation for why we have cut on investing so much and have become so shrewd to where we mainly go after free transfers or low buys and demand they take much less than offered elsewhere.
That's a ridiculous cost though for a player with a profile that is similar to what you have in Jude, Arda, and eventually Nico.
I’d do it, I also really like Wirtz so it’s always great having your favourite players join your club! A midfield of Tchouameni, Valverde, Jude, Wirtz has everything we’d need to play any type of attractive and dynamic football, and fun as hell to watch.
Im not sure if that’s the hurdle in this situation. I think we have the capital to do so, but perhaps it wouldn’t be wise to hastily spend on Wirtz early in the summer without a guarantee of a sufficiently significant fee for Rodrygo. We could end up getting lowballed for the latter later in the summer with our roster overloaded. Timing has an impact. There is also the strong possibility that we aren’t as interested since we have a few players with similar profiles
Wirz pushes Bellingham deeper which should be avoided. For me a starting attacking midfielder is not a good approach. We are not playing a 4-2-3-1 with Mbappe as the lone striker, Vini on the wing and Bellingham... where exactly?

Maybe, but the reality has always been that we're not a club with bottomless funds. Also, the market over the past few years has been ridiculous with mediocre players going for record fees. If there was some spending-to-success ratio over the last 10 years, especially in the Champions League, we would be top. We should be praised for our shrewd business. We got massively stung by the likes of Jovic and Hazard and just making sure that doesn't happen again. Look at the below table. PSG and Manchester City clubs are oil state ran and are essentially financially doping, one of which is under an active investigation. Chelsea is playing in the Conference League final. Manchester United and Tottenham are finishing the league just above the relegation zone. Barcelona struggle to register players because of their financial mess. Arsenal haven't won a major trophy in 5 years. We've had far more success than Juventus, Atletico, Liverpool and Bayern Munich. We've won more Champions League trophies in the last 10 years than all of clubs in the list combined.
Jude shouldn't be playing deep, he should be playing the shadow striker in the hole right behind Mbappe and Vinicius
Agreed. Jude is too flashy, holds on to the ball too long and looking to drive with it rather than moving it along with passing. I think he is better suited for a #10 or false 9 role. His final pass has looked better this year but he ain't no Ozil, would rather see him further up than #10 but he can still well there in a Lampard role.
My point is he can play there and that team would be fun to watch and effective at the same time. I mean we might end up with Stiller, and Jude ends up playing the no.10 instead, that works as well, but overall that midfield wouldn’t have the same magic as it would with Wirtz in there.
4-2-2-2 maybe if we have 2 AMs in Jude and Wirtz. Pellegrini had it with Lass, Xabi double pivot, Kaka, Guti/VDV, Higuain and Ronaldo.
I think we have enough magic already, its balance and structure that we are missing. But who knows, at this point we are all in the dark about what Xabi wants to do in terms of tactics and formation. I just think it would be a waste to push Bellingham deeper again.
🚨✍️ This afternoon, Hansi Flick will sign his new contract with FC Barcelona, running until 2027!All done and sealed. 🇩🇪 pic.twitter.com/51nXu0DyoW— Florian Plettenberg (@Plettigoal) May 21, 2025 Official
You can get magic by enabling more passing patterns instead of cramming more creative players. If you have energetic FBs providing width and comfortable on the ball, and if you have a front 2 that are not static and making variable runs to receive the ball in different situations, we can 10x the number and quality of chances we create even if using the same personnel. Vini last couple of seasons did midfielders very little favours, you rarely see him attacking the far post and unfortunately we didn't see enough runs like the one against Bayern away when Kroos picked him out finding space through the Bayern defense. If makes more runs like that, you don't need a Guti to find that pass, Tchouameni/Jude can do. He has always been looking for ball to feet, and then going for the same dribble options on the left wing.
Am getting the Twitter embedding error, but I can only guess Barca did something we should all panic over.
