Still hilarious he taunted RM on Twitter after getting a draw at the Bernabeu while RM went into win double and Atletico couldn't even win CDR. Dude has small time mentality. Not surprised he couldn't make it at Barca though it was kinda obvious him and Messi together will be misfit.
Carlo doesn't know game though. Not a patch on the RMBS folk. 1865861363148665177 is not a valid tweet id
That you think a manager isn't supposed to know what a "high line" is or that it can be bad says more about you than Carlo.
It's weird man.. Carlo is a tactical. Carlo is one of the best managers in history. Carlo also has flaws where he relies too much on a core 12 to 13 players and that can lead to issues when these players aren't performing well, age or physical breakdown. One can appreciate him for his greatness and also admit he has flaws which do effect the team at times in a negative manner.
I was just saying that all managers do know that, it’s a matter of trade-offs and what the manager is trying to achieve. A very high line can be bad for obvious reasons (balls over the top when you're dealing with athletic forwards) but if you have athletic defenders who also have good reading of the game it can be a great weapon because you can compress the playing field vertically and win the ball very quickly once you lose it. A low line can be bad because you're allowing the opposition to pin you back but it can also be useful if your central defenders are good in the air and you're forcing the opposition to play out wide and cross a lot.
Exactly. People often try to simplify the analysis into a binary choice, but the reality is much more nuanced. CA is likely the best manager for the team right now, but some of his decisions are reinforcing that necessity. With better rotation, we’d likely face fewer injuries, which in turn would reduce our reliance on a coach like him.
Great game, and that winning mentality should remind everyone that it’s not just Barca and us competing for the La Liga trophy.
My view, maybe, maybe not, for me no hard fast rule there, we are far from the only club experiencing injuries, what is a hard fast rule is that Madrid must always win, just look at the reactions from the fans just because we are not leading the table right now furthermore actually winning a trophy, and we know what is demanded by the board and Flo, Chopping and changing (rotation) isn't necessarily the best way to be consistent, most big teams just don't do that even though their rosters are filled with talent, i don't see the best players for big teams subbed out that often either we are not unique there, it more often than not leads to inconsistent results, IMO the best players need to play in order to win consistently, but for sure Carlo has his flaws.
Carlo had excellent rotation when the team had great depth, James, Isco, Morata, all going beyond 1k League minutes as plug and play substitutes, but the truth is these guys were all good enough to start elsewhere. Shame we couldn't preserve that kind of quality across the roster for long. We went back and forth between Marcelo and Coentrao as well. The truth is we have a group of very good players now, a group of very talented but inexperienced, and a group of pretty hopeless players.
Yeah it sucks but with the lack of depth and the injuries, I don’t think this is the season to yell at Carlo over rotations
Why not? You’re going against the wishes that some here have and to throw 17/18 year olds to the slaughter in a tough season based on "promise and potential"
Correct me if I’m wrong but that was Zidane with the B team, no? Morata was sold before Carlo’s second stint, didn’t get much of a chance in his first stint IIRC. James and Isco weren’t here the second time around, one was a starter and the other played when Bale was injured and was sent back to the bench as soon as he was back.
Here's a pretty incredible statistic. Since leaving Real Madrid to play more, James has not played more than he did in Madrid for a single club. Not Everton, not Bayern. In terms of League minutes, his best season in Munich contains less minutes of action that the one where he has played the LEAST before leaving the club.
Atlético bought Alvarez for 93 million euros and after a bad start it's started clicking with him, but the real MVP is Giuliano Simeone. if Atlético will countice in this shape we will have a triple-head race for the championship. i hope this time they can beat Barca away at a league game, something that never happened under Siemone. Barca started the season looking amazing and showed great defence with the high-line, but as the season went on coaches figured out how to beat this and Flick look likes he got no other ideas, one-dimensional coach. only one important squad player suffered an injury and it was Lamin that missed only 2 La liga games. i wonder how good they will be in the second part of the season when the load will increase.
They can definitely threaten that high line, no doubt. Alvarez has great positional awareness and is not lacking in speed, he just needs people to play him those vertical passes.
International breaks are taking a serious toll on players' fitness. Despite the name, they're no break—players fly globally to play every few days, racking up unsustainable minutes. Clubs must manage workloads like valuable equipment, as national teams seem indifferent to the long-term impact.
Apparently Cucurella was promoting the new Puma boots which just dropped in time for Christmas. These are retailing for £220. Que the two slips, he gets pissed changes boots then posts this on his social media. 1865830333951680565 is not a valid tweet id His agent is probably running around putting out fires as we speak
While i find him unintentionally hilarious, i do think more players need to comment on the equipment quality. When i see guys rip up boots and modify them in crude ways just so they can play in them, clearly, what you're wearing is a shit pair of boots, otherwise it would fit great and be totally comfortable to play in. Wearing garbage just because you're getting paid for it is simply ridiculous and so many big stars in the sport do it. If you need to heavily modify the boots: Send them back. Absurd.
Most boots nowadays are made from plastic that wraps very tightly around your foot, it's hard to find leather ones anymore. I got wider feet and I always end up with toe bruises if I wear anything but the Tiempo's. I am sure more people have the same problem, and professionals definitely especially if they go through many boots a season and need to break each pair in.
That's the reason Kroos had them custom make two pairs he played in every year and sent them their new models back, no matter what. He directly told Adidas they are garbage.
It's without a doubt his shortcoming. It's the board's fault for not giving him enough pieces to play with. Still, one has to wonder why was Ascencio not brought in earlier to take minutes off of the Militao-Rudiger partnership? The results of our players falling like flies this year is not because of his lack of rotation this year, but in previous years.
