I wonder if DAZN will ever pay a penny for it.

 

They must have been the highest bidders. Jio tried this strategy in India with Football World Cup, IPL cricket matches (IPL domestic OTT rights alone they paid 2.5 billion USD) etc to get traffic to their platform. Strategy even forced Disney+ in India to show cricket for free.

I guess DAZN plans to expand to more countries and hope a fraction of free users later become paying subscribers if they get rights for bigger sports content.

Unfortunately, they are in excellent form and have some very good players. They used to tremble under pressure, but that seems overcome after winning the Libertadores trophy. If we continue to suck, they have a chance. They are much better than at least 12 La Liga teams.

 

Interestingly, They will face Pachuca before the final against Madrid. A team which will play against us in the CWC group
