Matija Sarkic, international goalkeeper with Montenegro, has died suddenly at the age of 26

Millwall Football Club has announced the death of its first-choice goalkeeper and is "completely devastated" by what happened.

Sad about Kevin Campbell. Great memories of him and Ian Wright banging in the goals for Arsenal in the early days of the PL.

He frequently popped up on tv shows and podcasts since retiring and always came across as a good guy.

He's right. Brazil died after 2006.

You probably know better as a Brazilian, but to me it died with him as the poster boy of disappointments, as he was one of the reasons why a stacked Brazil team was such a major let-down. Goodness, was he bad during that WC in 2006, a WC where everyone expected him (and to a lesser extent, Kaka) to lead Brazil to a win!

But yeah, Brazil wasn't all that after the Fenomeno era.

Didn’t he also go clubbing during that WC and then refused or something to play the Copa some time later? Talk about throwing the squad under the bus. For what?

One thing to determine that the current squad doesn’t have the big names of 2002-2006. But I think the issue is much more on the lack of a good manager than it is on the players. We see it with other NT where they don’t have any big players but the managers make it work. Brasil is hopping from one bum to another.

Hell I’d argue this squad could win the 2002 WC if you transported them back in time. It’s more difficult than ever with the progress the game has made, can’t rely on pure (lazy) talent and lack on all other fronts.

I was just thinking this. I remember being utterly underwhelmed by Brazil 2006, but particularly by Ronaldinho.

Maybe this is his attempt to galvanize the squad. I don’t know. Just weird.

That Brazil squad was awful. Players in their peak like Kaka, Adriano, Dhinho. But nothing.

It was the death of samba. Useless players after their confederation wins.

Dude should know better than question players love for the jersey. The 2006 team was hammered because the preparation was a circus with plenty of partying. Then he went into retirement / partying mode. He can comment on the quality of the players, but to talk about their dedication ? He is in no place to talk about that.

Carvajal continues his goal-scoring streak today.

Barella is a really underrated player, so today’s display might help him get the recognition he deserves. He’s probably the active player most similar in playing style to Modric; he’s just not quite on peak Modric’s level. If we didn’t already have Bellingham and Camavinga, I think we’d be really interested in him, despite the difficulty of pulling an Italian away from Italy.

I am not sure how Nike will react after putting Ronaldinho as a big part of their 2024 ads, instead of the usual Cantona or Ronaldo 9. He basically told people not to watch Nike's Brazil and VJ is not good enough.

Well .... that quote from Ronaldinho was part of a promotional stunt from Rexona to incentivize fans to support the NT instead of unjustly criticize them.

It was a bit out of character for him to say that. What is not is making bad decisions to make an extra buck.

It seemed that way when I saw it. a) He seems rather reserved on social media and (b) his post today seems a lot longer than someone who's simply frustrated.

I reckon Barca will sign Nico this summer or next. Buyout clause apparently 50 ME which is cheaper than Ferran, Raphinha etc. Nico, Yamal could be starting wingers both both club and country. Arsenal are also interested so it will basically depend on whether Barca can afford 50 M fee or not.

Ronaldinho criticizing the guys doing their best while he was getting paid and spending his time smoking dust and drinking methylated spirits broke and in debt in prison.

Brilliant football player but the fact that he feels entitled to an opinion is wild to me.
