On a side note I watched the last 10 minutes only but that intensity from both teams was mind blowing. Barcelona was attacking at full speed every attack. All attacks ended no where but it was insane intensity. I haven’t seen our team play like this probably from Mourinho (when we are chasing a goal).

Barcelona is in for a long season. Their highline like the Xavi first season only works with extreme defensive output by the players. The moment they take rest in a game they start conceding chances.

This loss was because of lack of lamin to pin sociedad back and also due to fatigue.

My family and Arsenal fans and it's times like this where I realise how Real Madrid fans only really have first world problems when you think about it.

We were criticizing VJ around this time last season. He came back from a minor injury and was not the same. Then, Bellingham had to save us again and again. Yes, our league position was better at that moment than now. But we are not far behind Barcelona. Let's go back to the 2014-2015. We were the defending CL Champion. We brought James after the World Cup. He was playing liked a future Ballon D'or winner. I recalled things were looking okay before the winter break. But we surrendered our lead in La Liga on March 1st, 2025, where we would finish second behind Barcelona. We reached the semifinal of the CL but lost to Juventus. I had no recollection of the series.


So, the real season begins in February.

Interestingly if we compare to last season we have this season registered 1 loss and 3 draws up until this point.

Last season we had 1 loss and 2 draws by this point in the league.

Barca have just been far better this season than they were last.

Overall play was just as bad last season but we're far more solid defensively. We had only conceded 8 goals by this point last season (3 of them against Atleti) to this seasons 11 and scored 23 goals, similar to this season (with a game in hand) where we have scored 25 goals.

This wouldn't be so bad if Barca hadn't been on a roll or if we managed to squeeze wins in the CL too which is where our struggles have reflected more in the results.

 

CL results have been bad so far. Went unbeaten the whole campaign last season. Lost to Lille and Milan at home with Liverpool and Atalanta away left. Brest away won't be easy either.

Sociedad played well against us.

Severely depleted defense could be a major issue for us, none of the games will be easy.
