I'm always weary of writing strikers off after a bad season even if they're in their 30s.

I know what you mean, some fans write players off if they've had a bad game nevermind a season, unfortunately they are fans out there who think players are robots and should play at an extraordinary level every min of every game....

People want to write our own players off even while we are winning and they are scoring lol

Because it usually opens the door to transfer talk which is like a hobby, a game within the game for fans.

Flick has adapted well to Spain. That's kind of always the worry, German players and coaches either take to working outside the country terribly or very well.

While I am not convinced that he's doing a special job at Barca, he's fitting in well with the club which isn't easy.

Comical. Once I read that the partnership was based in Miami you knew how this story would unfold.

we’re going to see more of this type of things as these “owners” leave the bag holders after grifting and raiding what they could.

I did, it looks like some shell company took loans out to fund the purchase and operational costs for these clubs. But what they did with the money looks like they bought a yacht, gulfstream and likely pocket a bunch of cash. Once they couldn’t find more funding to keep their Ponzi scheme going they walked away.

    EDIT: Here’s another article about how the committed fraud;

The Premier League is not as well setup as some think it is. A massive can of worms opened up here now that could have a detrimental impact on the league as a whole.

I'm here to enjoy the ride :ROFLMAO:

I'll never forget, the German government hired an agency to control the sustainability of football during covid and the representatives gave them a report that said "financially, this shouldn't even exist".

Manchester City have claimed victory in their legal dispute over the Premier League’s associated party transaction (APT) regulations, after a tribunal found aspects of the rules to be unlawful.

The Premier League said in essence the verdict had been a victory for it, because it “upheld the need for the APT system as a whole and rejected the majority of Manchester City’s challenges”. The league said it planned to “quickly and effectively” adjust its rulebook in discussion with its shareholder clubs.

This verdict brings to an end a process which began this year after the league revised its rules over APTs. It has no direct connection to the legal process which has seen the league charge City with 130 breaches of its rulebook. City have denied wrongdoing and lawyers began hearing that case on 16 September, with a verdict expected in the new year.

Meh, I think that after having a few suboptimal managers, any glimpse of competence seems like a bonus in comparison.

Xavi was in over his head as manager of an institution like Barca, given his lack of experience. Before him, Koeman hasn't shown the ability to consistently return points on a regular basis, going back to him being at PSV back in the aughts.

I would consider Flick to be "adequate," TBH.

While he's shown more tactical flexibility than Xavi, he also has the same reluctance to go to the bench until late in games. His choice to rotate away to Osasuna, instead of lesser opponents at home is/was of questionable strategy. And him not going to the bench until well after Monaco was up a man, then added in THEIR subs, then took a lead was a tactical blunder.

    TL/DR: Flick is "OK," TBH.

I'm just screwing with him. Busquets is the the most overrated player ever, though.

Busquets is the corksniffer kind of football player "you don't know ball if you don't understand how Sergi manipulated time and space" yeah yeah yeah.

I understand somebody can play a wonderful flute solo but I prefer mine with electric guitars.

Biscuits was elite even we here know it. But I guess a lower rating based on the whole "only played for one team and one system his whole life" could be applicable.

I don't particularly like his style of football, but i understand he was great at it. Just not my cup of tea.
