Aesthetic bias in full effect lmfao. Volume goalscoring with insane efficiency is always more valuable than fancy dribbling skills. Henry was never really a cheat code like Haaland who has been equally brilliant in UCL or internationals goalscoring wise.

I dislike the new CL format. Of course, I know how to approach the games involving Real Madrid.
Bt I am confused about whom to root for in the other games. Under the old format, I was very interested in the games in our group. And I was against PSG or Barcelona. Consequently, I also took a keen interest in all of their matches in their group stage.

Last night,I did not care about any other games. Because under the new format, 24 teams would qualify for the playoff. That is 2/3 of the teams in the CL. It's difficult for me to imagine any of our arch rivals finishing below that threshold. Two seasons ago, Barcelona found themselves in a group with Bayern Munich and Inter Milan. That is 4 tough games out of 6. Right after the draw, many could imagine the possibility of Barcelona dropping to the Europa League. The fourth team in the group was Viktoria Plzen. While Viktoria Plzen eventually lost all their matches, at that point, their potential was unknown. It was conceivable that they might secure a point against any of the top three teams on their home turf. Therefore, the match between Viktoria Plzen and Inter Milan piqued my interest.

 

Have you seen Müller's assists etc. - he was no donkey. He was not as aesthetically pleasing and technically great as e.g. Jupp Heynckes - that were Germans big two goalscorers of the 70s - but he was not a moron that just scored goals.

At the first match days it is like always. You somewhat like when the big guys lose - they just do that very seldom. But it is interesting how they position. And you have more duels from the big guys against each other.

As their is max. 24 points available with 36 teams in 8 matches - there will be several teams with equal points. So goal difference gets important - for all teams. Every rank is important for the setting of the next rounds, to be one of the first 8 and not to have to go an extra round etc. And money is distributed for each rank after the 8th match. The first then gets additional 9.9 million EUR, each rank less means another 275.000 EUR less.
