How is it valuable. Surely there aren't THAT many people out shopping for new football stadiums. I know next to nothing about London but I just can't imagine it that they will be able to "sell" and old stadium and buy a "new" stadium and come out ahead.

The property values in and around Stamford Bridge would have to be substantially higher, but then the club would just be moving into a shoddy neighborhood.

The valuation of the land is around 80-100m pounds. Not massive but solid enough.

 

I don't know if that's a good value or not. It just doesn't make any sense from a logistical or historical perspective to uproot Chelsea to a new location if they can just remodel or rebuild at Stamford Bridge. Unless it's like with American sports teams where often local governemnts/taxpayers pay for building stadiums.

 

Chelsea has had so many roadblocks in development for Stamford Bridge. The stadium is small and a club the size of Chelsea could increase revenue and make a sports and entertainment/shopping area.
