NIU to announce the addition of lights to their new soccer complex. I'm told that the lighting system will be installed in time for the fall home schedule. I've always thought that lights would be great for NIU, as DeKalb is very close to a high concentration of Academy, club, and high school programs which were never able to attend matches because of the early start time of fall matches. I can remember being at matches in the late fall wondering if the match would be ending in total darkness. Often times match times were manipulated to assure that matches weren't finished in darkness. It's also very difficult to get students to attend a match at 2-3pm on a weekday or weekend. If they weren't in class it's highly likely that they were "mid nap" .
