Gooch subbed on in the 74th minute of a 0-0 match (so far). This is an ESPN+ game, randomly.

Gooch played 90 minutes in a 5-1 against Cambridge last Saturday, arguably MotM and looked very dangerous on the right wing, his contract is up in the summer but I’m starting to feel like he’ll get an offer soon, he’s a good player on his day, certainly above League One.

Ahead 1-0 in the playoff home game. They need another. Most attack going on Clarke's side, Gooch helping defend the right wing.

    Starts again in promotion playoff:

Match is on ESPN+, though I'm getting no sound with my stream right now.

Gooch, playing RWB, just nearly put a perfect own goal header inside his own near post when he could have just ... not touched it.

First shot on goal in the match a Byers bicycle kick on the ensuing corner for Wednesday, but pretty easy to save.

Wow - Gooch almost with another own goal - comes weird bounce comes off his body and just wide of goal.

Next play, Gooch in a battle for a header on the ensuing corner, bangs heads with a Wednesday guy so hard that blood is pouring from the opponent's head while Gooch stays down for an extended period and potential concussion checks.

Excellent through ball splits two defenders, including Gooch, and Gooch can't chase down Johnson to block the low cross at the six yard line, which Gregory finishes. 1-0, 1-1 aggregate, 15 minutes left ... in regulation ...

I almost hope they stay in League One, since that seems to be Gooch's level (six assists from the wing is not too shabby). They're likely to rebuild if they get promoted, and our guy is likely to be one of the casualties.

    STOPPAGE TIME GOAL SUNDERLAND

Jack Clarke, who has at times looked like Pulisic taking on your beer league team with 70 yard mazey dribbling runs, beats his man to the endline and finds an excellent Roberts near post run for a one time finish.

Gooch manages the final clearance in the 12th minute of stoppage, and Sunderland are going back to Wembley! Don't hope they stay in League One - Gooch is part of the furniture there and isn't going anywhere. He might not play as much, but he also might be OK with that .

Gooch has been an indisputable starter this season and will end it with over 3,000 minutes(!) in which he accumulated six assists, which is low compared to what other wingers/AMs have produced.

If I'm being honest, I don't see Gooch's play translating well one level up. We'll see.

Both playoff games he's played as an RB/RWBish behind the winger and hasn't gotten up the field all that much. If this was his usual spot all season, not a big surprise...and his team doesn't look like it scores very many goals as it is.

Sunderland go up 1-0 early as Embleton blasts a long knuckling shot that the keeper only makes an awkward wave at, must have been fooled by the movement. Brilliant pace and knuckle on the shot, but Stockdale got his technique entirely wrong.

Promotion! Now ... does Gooch re-sign or go to Portsmouth to stay in League One?
