Starting against Tranmere, and scores: 39' SUBLIME SUNDERLAND!!Watmore again at the heart of it. The winger played a quick one-two before rolling it across goal from the right byline. And out with a knock. 54' Substitution. Gooch looks to have picked up a knock. He's replaced by McNulty. 3-0— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) October 22, 2019
Gooch's injury kept him out of the lineup for a 1:0 Sunderland loss at Shewsbury. Sunderland currently 8th in the League One table and look a lot like a club being exactly where they belong.
I guess Gooch is still injured, bc he didn’t make the bench against Southend, yesterday (Sunderland won 1-0).
Is he still injured? All I can find is "not in squad" or "no information available." Hopefully he didn't get abducted by aliens like Amon & Payne.
Gooch has a knee ligament injury. Still unclear when he’ll be back (this long link courtesy of me cut and pasting on an iphone). https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.su...nson-provides-depth-injury-update-1320022?amp Meanwhile, Sunderland settling in League One for probably the next several years.
Back in training; reports of his death prove false: “Jordan Willis opened his knee up slightly in training, so we are going to have to monitor that slightly."Lynden Gooch has trained the full week which is great to see him back out there.”🗣️ Phil Parkinson provides the latest fitness news...— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) December 13, 2019
Currently 11th, 5 pts from the playoff round positions At least they're not Bolton, dead last thanks to a 12 point deduction and 15 points from safety (albeit with 4 games in hand). If they can collect some points in the next 3 months it could make for an exciting push to avoid relegation.
Games can get cancelled at the lower levels because of unfit field conditions quite a bit. I would imagine Sunderland doesn't have that issue?
The League One lost Bury to financial trouble at the start of the season and they're about to lose Bolton too, that had to miss some games due to lack of funds.
Bolton's fine for now. League One is going to lose them because they're going to get relegated, not because they're broke.
Wow, that's impressively bad mismanagement. Bolton were in the EPL for over a decade until 2012. Wikipedia tells me that they are also the club that has been in the first division the greatest number of seasons without winning the title. Now they can't pay bills and are likely to be relegated to the 4th tier? Wowie wow wow wow.
They need a Sugar Daddy, some Sheikh financing Wahabbists, or some Russian billionaire with ties to the mafia, or some American slumlord moving money out in one of those "private investment societies, non-disclosed members." There are plenty of crooinvestors out there happy to do some money launmovement in the EFL.
