Searching Gooch's name on twitter and the comments about him are outstanding. Almost every post is raving about him. Apparently has improved his dribble with head down and run like a headless chicken approach . He needs to keep up his form and GTFO of there in the summer. With the US lacking direct players like him in the attack he could definitely be a viable option. . https://www.sunderlandecho.com/spor...n-gooch-s-sunderland-transformation-1-9104451
He should get called in for the euro friendlies. Get some burn and use it as a way to help market himself into a better position club wise. We need wingers badly and his skill set could be useful. Hope he keeps building on his performances club wise.
Great to hear. He's still a young buck at 22 with time to make his mark. And he's local to the Bay Area. My brother-in-law coached HS against him, and told me Gooch was the fastest player he's ever seen.
Gutted to be missing out today but nothing too serious, back training hopefully in a few days. Ha’way the lads! 🤞🏼🔴⚪️ https://t.co/t5KyS1MPHq— Lynden Gooch (@LyndenGooch) April 14, 2018
While he was away, Sunderland picked up a point, which is enough to stave off judgement day for another week but isn't going to chance anything.

43' It's been a frustrating afternoon for @lyndengooch46 on the left so far, but he has just gone a whisker away from levelling things up. The American shifted inside from the flank and darted towards the near post but headed wide as Pools escape. 🐵 1-0 🔴⚪️ pic.twitter.com/TBGZUx35kw— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) July 14, 2018
How has this team not sold Gooch yet? Won't be a huge windfall but I can't believe there isn't some Championship team that could use him. And why isn't Gooch's agent making this happen?
Still a few weeks in the transfer window, and Gooch probably doesn't have that many suitors. He wasn't even a constant starter for the club that finished dead last in the championship. He is a lively player who lacks quality. Not many clubs will want him.
In other words, like so many young players still finding their feet in the game. Unless and until he does, there won't be anyone offering a transfer fee and his suitors will only emerge when his contract is up. That'll tell us where he is, which is League One I'm afraid
Sorry everyone. I like Gooch though, but maybe a season in league 1 can help find his game. He needs to work on his decision making and be more than a high energy guy. It's not the end of the world. He is young, and league 1 is honestly terrible. He should do really well there.
And scores: 🇺🇸 @lyndengooch46 heads the lads in front after Maguire dropped short in the middle, turned and then floated a ball over the top for the American to head into the bottom corner. ⚫️⚪️ 0-1 🔴⚪️ pic.twitter.com/KJ48SCgyfR— Sunderland AFC (@SunderlandAFC) July 17, 2018
Here's the goal, but it takes a ..............long............ time to get to the actual goal (about 1 minute mark). Sounds like Gooch had another good game. Scored 2 goals (1 a penalty) in a win vs St. Mirren 6-0. This site says he was MOTM https://rokerreport.sbnation.com/20...king-like-it-lads-player-ratings-match-report (MOTM) Gooch: 9/10 Best player on the park. A constant menace, runs with intent and purpose, won and scored the penalty before adding his second in the second half.
Wasn't a few in England's WC squad 4 years prior playing in league 1? I think it was Dele Alli or Lingaard not sure which. But anyway some of Englands best players honed there craft in the Championship/League 1 before making some noise a few years later. Hopefully Gooch can do the same. Sometimes you gotta take a step back to take two steps forward type of thing.
You do remember right. He went from Stocksbridge Park Steels F.C. in the 8th tier to Halifax Town in the 6th tier before Conference side Fleetwood bought him. Arsenal legend Ian Wright was another who spent time in non-league - Sunday League, in fact - before Crystal Palace picked him up just 3 months shy of his 22nd birthday
