i agree with this which is why i was super frustrated in games where we dropped points while playing 11 vs. 10.... and subbing an attacking player for a defensive minded player usually ends up backfiring wise man once say....team without ball cannot score....
even thought the mistakes were individual, check out these sub times.. that is wayyy too late in the game. Colombia is always on the backfoot with no control of the ball and a lot of pressure from the rival before he makes the subs..
this is the storyline of most of Colombia's modern day results even before Lorenzo. Mental lapses is our specialty and sprinkle in some bad luck and we get stuck in that 2nd tier of futbol. We tend to start off strong in tournaments but lack that last push when it matters most. My concern with our NT and with all the teams you mentioned here is this Colombian team was built on the shoulders of James during this qualification trial. And he will show up, no doubt. But this is a huge crutch and to be fair to the man, he can only do so much and 3-4 years from when he started with us is a huge amount of time in professional futbol. At some point something will have to give. His best rendition came during Copa where all our players were playing at a high level and making a difference so that James was the "extra" we needed. Argentina was still able to use a "slow man walking the field" Messi and had enough players surrounding him ready to be a better Argentina 2.0 . Brazil offers huge depth across all positions and Paraguay and Uruguay, still have that "we fight as a team" mantra and have a sense of over achieving even when playing crappy futbol. Lorenzo has had years to build a 2.0 version that can play strongly as a unit without the over reliance of 1-2 players. Really hoping to see Lorenzo try some modifications during this lead up. Doesnt have to be drastic but enough so the team is ready to perform at the highest level.
yeah we have beaten this topic to death....Nestor has previously struggled with subs and time management... especially when facing adversity...the twitter "experts" and other journalists have looked over it because we won the last two WCQ's and did well in the recent friendlies... the call up list and way we approach these friendlies could be very telling of things to come...

this is very true. Our teams tend to do the opposite. we start strong and finish weak. the most important games we dont play well. compared to lets say Argentina or Spain where in past WC start with loses but buld momentum.

Going back full circle here to the topic of the thread all of those losses and draws during this cycle are swept under the rug and essentially meaningless now. None of those games that ended badly had Suarez up front. He is playing out of his mind right now and gives defenses other things to worry about. This team can be a totally different team if he and someone like Yaser steps up and takes the next step. We can be the aggressors and on the front foot of most games if Suarez and someone on right wing give us some spark. (Hopefully Suarez is healthy when we need him most.)
Buda is a good team. fast counter attack. good defense. good pace. they also play by the artic in an artifical turf field.
Norway in general have put a lot of time, effort and funding into a plethora of team and individual sports. It is kind of a revolution. They have always been known for their winter sports but their summer sports and team games are being emphasized from the ground roots as well.
so 3 Pk takers for the WC... need 2 more that won't shit their pants... Mina is a good one but doubt he will start
