His goals remind me of Falcao’s scoring prowess at Porto.

Strategically at the right place, right time - scoring via headers and either foot… great composure - ice in the veins

Yes and similar to Falcao he has learned to PLAY fast (he's decisive, aggressive and plays with urgency) even if he isn't a sprinter. Really like how he attacks early balls and immediately wants to break.

I remember Falcao at River was a prodigious talent and terrific finisher but the coaches there were all over the place with him playing him as a 9, as a winger and even as a 10 under Simeone. It was at Porto that Jesualdo Ferreira and AVB refined him as a 9. You hope Sporting is doing the same with Suarez.

Yeah Suarez has a lot of Falcao qualities, moreso speed of thought and hard work than any athletic gifts that jump off the page. He's really developed the last 2-3 years and should be our default 9 for now barring Duran reformation as a saint these last months.

sucks that he's 28. We rarely get a gem like him that hits his stride at 23-24. I mean even his performance last year in Liga 2 was remarkable and usually guys that get bounced around have a really hard time readjusting. Gotta say from watching the highlights looks like PSG was far more dangerous and deserved a better result but Sporting's counters are insane

Yup, what we get for randomly ignoring him for years.

But also, he's yet another colombian that developed later in his life. Im thinking he'll be useful for a couple more seasons at most but it'll at least give us more breathing room to find a new forward

I mean let's get him healthy to the WC right. As a 32 age striker he can still cause plenty of damage (Kane will be 33 this year), so he has at least 1 more cycle. He has some really lucky bounces that go his way but you also have to be in position to take advantage. He does make it look easy but his reaction to shoot at goal and make something happen is something we have struggled with for years (looking at you Zapata and Muriel) but he's pretty fun to watch. I'd be shocked if Sporting can keep him past this season specially if he has a solid WC performance.

people don't understand what a 9 actually does, his job is to score, anything else is extra. The rebounds people take for granted are indicative of a top forward, this requires high reaction time. Not something everyone has, especially not colombians who typically find ways to even miss those.

the issue with age is im sure he'll lose his speed and agility with time and right now that is part of what makes him so good, he's also never been great physically so what will he look like with time?

wouldn't want to make the mistake of using someone who isn't the same anymore

He wasn't good enough 4 years ago, he was still refining his skills and because he doesn't jump off the page with any real athletic gifts he didn't have enough to play at an elite level. It seems getting a ton of touches and being on a dominant attacking side gave him the ability to put it all together and his metrics are very good, he does a ton of stuff well, creating, holding up balls he's not just a finisher. IDK where he'll be in 4 years but I think he'll still be pretty good with that skillset but might just be a super sub, either way lets just enjoy him now for the next 2-3 years at his peak.

I just hope he scores for us in March and in the summer. Anything outside of that I do not care about.

Let’s be real if falcao had scored 7 goals last season Suárez would have gotten 0 minutes yet even with his sporting form

Goal by Suarez in 35th minute of league game against Arouca. Lethal precision here

He seems to love doing that cut back move for a goal from the left side. Many of his goals in Spain were like that. Also scored against Venezuelan kinda like that one.

Man for Sporting to be directly qualified to the next round over Real Madrid, Inter, and PSG is crazy.

he scored a goal but it was offside and missed a 1v1 against the goalie which landed on another Sporting player that scored

I saw that thinking "Jesus he is about to become a damn legend in that very moment for Sporting for such a dramatic finish."
