I didn't see the match. Did he celebrate against his former team?

He had some very nice passes that led to goals and chances so I assume the rating was not just based on the goals.
    The guy was very dangerous.

Yeah as well as papu and ilicic, that also had a beast match with assists, penalty created and goals.

This team is attacking machine, that have benefficiated a lot of duvan and muriel that never had this score rating before

    Muriel-Zapata-Luiz

    Uribe-Barrios-James

    x---------x-------x---------Cuadrado

Would love to see this, I doubt it would happen because apparently CQ hates him but wouldn't mind seeing Arias tried on the left or could play Cuadrado there.

He's our clear best fullback and he stopped calling him and started Medina over him, so clearly not a fan for some reason.

I really think on paper this is probably our best team right now. If you break it down it provides the right balance and fulfills all the needs for a high pressing uptempo team while not sacrificing attack and goals. Luiz on the right side would add balance because he is very active defensively and can track back so James/Cuadrado don't get overrun defensively, also if you switched Cuadrado and played Arias there you could have more defense on that side and let Cuadrado play higher with Uribe staying more disciplined defensively. Muriel/Zapata/Luiz all add defending from the front and getting James/Cuadrado/Arias on the pitch with 3 forwards gives us plenty of creativity from both fullback positions and we wouldn't have to sacrifice our ability to defend compact when needed.

Muriel and Zapata have had a lot of goals in them for a few years now, they get into really good goal scoring positions consistently and when that's the case its usually just a matter of time with the right team and the right run to unleash it. The most difficult part is getting lots of chances consistently, players who do that usually break out at some point. Its a good contrast to Falcao, he's so elite at finishing his chances but Muriel and Zapata get into so many more great chances at this point in their career and do other stuff as well, fingers crossed they can stay healthy for us over the next 4 years.

Or it could be with the lack of playing time that Arias has had compared to Medina. Medina has been playing more matches consistently- full 90 minute ones mind you- and Arias has been on the bench with the exception of 2 matches.

Hell he sent that message to Falcao whose condition and lack of proper form has had him skipped for calls.

Copa America was in June, he was in the squad and started one game with Medina starting the rest, there was already something there. Arias is playing for Atletico and is getting benched by Trippier who is worse defensively but offers the team a lot more attacking from that position mainly because the team is really lacking creativity. Getting relegated to back up there under those circumstances isn't the worst thing in the world, by all accounts Trippier has been fantastic, if he was sending the message that you're not playing your not called then why did Medina start from the get go?

Medina had a good showing at the Copa which is very good for us, I just don't see a world were Arias isn't at worst our back up but even that is a stretch for me imo.

You really thought Medina had a good CA?

Against argentina I thought Medina was fine - nothing comes to mind that he did wrong. So I’ll give the thumbs up for this match.

Against Qatar - he only played a half and I somehow recall Medina playing with a lack of confidence hence the Arias sub for the 2nd half. Thumbs down for me.

Against Paraguay - Arias played the whole game and did fine. I think he even had the assist for the Cuellar goal. N/A for Medina

Against Chile - Medina played, in my eyes, too timid which forced cuadrado to drop back and help him out more than what I would have liked. Thumbs down for me.

I know you see the game very well, so just curious what you liked from Medina.
